slack-recipes

slack-recipes is a skill for Claude Code from workato-devs/recipe-skills. It costs 43 tokens per session (5,190 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for creating Workato automations that connect Slack through Workbot. It helps agents produce recipe JSON for commands, dialogs, messages, buttons, and channel tasks.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for creating Slack slash commands, modal forms, posted messages, button interactions, and channel-management workflows in Workato.
Why use it?
It reduces guesswork when building Slack automations and helps keep new recipes consistent with an existing Workato project.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00043 $0.05190
Opus 5 $0.00022 $0.02595
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.01038
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00519

Security

Grade A, and why

slack-recipes scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Slack Recipes Skill - Agent Instructions

DEPENDENCY: Load the workato-recipes base skill first if not already loaded. This skill requires the base Workato knowledge for triggers, control flow, datapills, and recipe structure.

CRITICAL: Pre-Generation Checklist

For EXISTING projects:

  1. Read existing Slack .recipe.json files to understand local patterns
  2. Check for established domain/scope naming conventions

For GREENFIELD projects:

  1. Use skill templates - see templates/feedback-collection.json as reference
  2. Use descriptive UUIDs - e.g., trigger-001, post-reply-002

ALWAYS:

  1. Ask for connection name - exact name of Workbot/Slack connection in Workato
  2. Ask for slash command name - verify it's not reserved (see list below)
  3. Ask for domain/scope - avoid reserved words like "feedback", "help"
  4. Use descriptive UUIDs - never copy random hex UUIDs from existing recipes

CRITICAL: Environment Configuration Required

Before testing Workbot recipes, verify your Slack app is configured for your Workato environment:

  1. Go to your Workbot connection in Workato
  2. Open the OAuth profile settings
  3. Follow the "Configuring your app manually" instructions
  4. Update ALL URLs in your Slack app to match the environment-specific URLs shown
  5. Ensure the coak_id parameter matches your OAuth profile ID

When switching environments (e.g., trial → production), ALL Slack app URLs must be updated.

Example URLs (trial environment):

Redirect URL: https://app.trial.workato.com/oauth/callback
Events URL: https://app.trial.workato.com/slack_webhooks/event?coak_id=XXX
Actions URL: https://app.trial.workato.com/slack_webhooks/actions?coak_id=XXX
Data Source URL: https://app.trial.workato.com/slack_webhooks/data_source?coak_id=XXX

Required Slack Bot Token Scopes:

  • app_mentions:read, channels:read, chat:write, commands
  • files:read, files:write, groups.read
  • im:history, im:write, mpim:read
  • users:read, users:read.email

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
