python-package-runtime

python-package-runtime is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from X-School-Academy/skill-pilot. It costs 28 tokens per session (676 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A Python package runtime is a procedure for installing Python packages and running Python scripts or command-line tools with the repository's Python environment.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for adding Python dependencies, running helper scripts, and using Python package command-line tools consistently.
Why use it?
It avoids using the wrong Python interpreter or installing packages into an unrelated environment.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00028 $0.00676
Opus 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00270
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00135
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00068

Security

Grade A, and why

python-package-runtime scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 16d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

AI Builder - Python Package Runtime

Use this skill to install Python packages and run Python-based helpers in a consistent repo-safe way.

When to Use This Skill

  • A task needs a new Python package installed in this repo
  • A helper script should be run with the repo Python environment
  • A Python package exposes a CLI that should be run from the engine virtualenv

Your Roles in This Skill

  • Platform Engineer: Keep Python package installation and runtime behavior consistent with the repo environment
  • Backend Developer: Run scripts and package CLIs with the correct interpreter and virtualenv paths
  • Technical Writer: Document the exact command conventions clearly and tersely

Role Communication

As an expert in your assigned roles, you must announce your actions before performing them using the following format:

As a {Role, and Role-XYZ if have more roles}, I will {action description}

This communication pattern ensures transparency and allows for human-in-the-loop oversight at key decision points.

Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Decide what kind of Python action is needed

Choose one path:

  1. Install one or more new Python packages
  2. Run a Python helper script
  3. Run a package-provided CLI from the engine virtualenv

Step 2: Install packages with the repo wrapper only

For any new Python package in this repo, always install it from repo root with:

core/bin/uv-install <package> [package...]

This wrapper runs uv add in core/engine/. Do not use pip install directly for new packages.

Step 3: Run Python scripts with the repo interpreter

Run helper scripts with:

core/bin/python path/to/script.py

core/bin/python points to core/engine/.venv/bin/python, so scripts run with the repo-managed environment and installed packages.

Step 4: Run package CLIs from the engine virtualenv

When a package provides a CLI entrypoint, run it from:

core/engine/.venv/bin/<cli-name>

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

python-package-runtime is a skill published in the GitHub repository X-School-Academy/skill-pilot (20 stars, last pushed 4mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 28 tokens to every session and 676 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-02.
