resume

resume is a skill for Claude Code from yanfeid/claude-amber. It costs 55 tokens per session (284 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A procedure for reopening work from saved files in a project’s .amber folder. It reads the saved task state, current focus, and checkpoint, then continues from where the previous session stopped.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when someone says to resume or continue, or when starting work in a project that contains saved .amber state files.
Why use it?
It prevents repeated planning and reduces the risk of guessing what happened earlier. It also checks whether the saved file and task details still match the project.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00055 $0.00284
Opus 5 $0.00028 $0.00142
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00057
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00028

Security

Grade A, and why

resume scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

/amber:resume — pick up where you left off

  1. Read, in this order, whichever exist:

    • .amber/STATE.md — model-written working state (authoritative)
    • .amber/FOCUS.md — active focus contract (still binding unless the user changes the task)
    • .amber/checkpoint.md — machine-captured facts (recent goals, files touched)
  2. If none exist, say so and ask what to work on. Do not invent prior state.

  3. Cross-check the state against reality before acting: the files listed — do they still exist, do they contain what the state claims? Git may have moved on since the checkpoint. If reality contradicts the state, trust reality and say what changed.

  4. Give the user a 3–5 sentence re-grounding: what the task is, where it stood, and the single next step you propose. Then, unless they redirect you, execute that next step.

  5. If .amber/STATE.md says "Next steps", do not re-plan from scratch — continue the plan.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

resume is a skill published in the GitHub repository yanfeid/claude-amber (2 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 55 tokens to every session and 284 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
