glyphs-light-table

glyphs-light-table is a skill for Claude Code from yintzuyuan/glyphs-reference. It costs 72 tokens per session (1,602 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A reference for Light Table, a Glyphs plugin that adds Git-based version history to font files. Glyphs is a font-design application, and Git records earlier versions of work.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to check changed glyphs, browse past commits, load older font versions, restore individual glyphs, and map Python calls to the plugin’s Objective-C interface.
Why use it?
It helps you understand the plugin’s private programming interface when you need to inspect or recover earlier font edits.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00072 $0.01602
Opus 5 $0.00036 $0.00801
Sonnet 5 $0.00014 $0.00320
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00160

Security

Grade A, and why

glyphs-light-table scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 5 executable files (scripts/_lighttable_utils.py, scripts/read_api.py, tests/conftest.py, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 161 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Light Table API

Git version control for Glyphs via the Light Table plugin (com.formkunft.LightTable). The plugin extends GSFont, GSGlyph, and GSLayer with lt_* attributes that bridge through a private _LightTableInterface Obj-C singleton.

Use this skill whenever the question involves the plugin's version-history surface — checking modification state, listing past commits, loading an older font snapshot, or restoring a single glyph from history.

Path Resolution

${GLYPHS_LIGHT_TABLE_PATH:-~/Library/Application Support/Glyphs 3/Repositories/Light-Table}

API source: {path}/Python API/lighttable/__init__.py

If GLYPHS_LIGHT_TABLE_PATH is unset, the default Glyphs 3 install location is used. The skill exits with a clear error if neither location holds the plugin.

Scripts

Run all scripts from this skill's base directory. Prepend the base directory path to scripts/ when executing.

Script Purpose Output
read_api.py Parse/search Light Table Python API JSON: types, extensions, ObjC selectors

Usage

# List all types and extensions
python3 scripts/read_api.py

# Detail for a specific type (enum, GS class, ObjC class, dataclass)
python3 scripts/read_api.py DocumentState
python3 scripts/read_api.py GSFont
python3 scripts/read_api.py RestorationInfo

# Search across all types
python3 scripts/read_api.py --search "restore"
python3 scripts/read_api.py --search "version"

Core concepts

Two state enums

Enum Scope Values Used by
DocumentState Font-level repo status OPERATIONAL, UNINITIALIZED, UNAVAILABLE, … font.lt_document_state
ObjectStatus Per-glyph / per-layer modification UNCHANGED, MODIFIED, ADDED, REMOVED glyph.lt_status, layer.lt_status

A font must reach DocumentState.OPERATIONAL before any other lt_* call returns meaningful data.

Bridge architecture

  • import lighttable monkey-patches GSFont, GSGlyph, and GSLayer with lt_* attributes
  • All lt_* properties and methods route through the private _LightTableInterface Obj-C singleton
  • Python's _ separator maps to Obj-C : (see selector mapping below)

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
