function-analysis

A structured analysis method that breaks an artifact into its intended functions and smaller sub-functions. FMEA is a way to study how a design or process might fail.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create a function tree and requirements for a design or process, including what each function must do successfully.
Why use it?
It clarifies what each part is supposed to achieve before anyone examines how those parts could fail.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00031 $0.00297
Opus 5 $0.00015 $0.00148
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00059
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00030

Measured 3d ago against content hash 2cdc263094d8, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

function-analysis scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Function Analysis

Decomposes artifact into a hierarchical function tree per FMEA Step 3.

Execution

Subagent — spawned via subagent-spawning/spawn-agent.

Why Subagent

Function decomposition requires systematic analytical thinking without premature failure identification. Isolated context prevents jumping to conclusions.

Input

  • artifact: The artifact to decompose
  • artifact_type: Type for tailored decomposition
  • analysis_mode: "design" (what it should do) or "process" (how it executes)

Output

  • function_tree: Hierarchical list of functions and sub-functions
  • function_requirements: What each function must achieve to succeed

Available SOPs

Optional, no fixed order; the final leaf is always a sop.

SOP When to use
spawn-agent Spawn a customized CC subagent with full MCP tool access. Used by SOPs that declare execution: subagent.
Files

What ships with it

1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

function-analysis is a skill published in the GitHub repository yogsoth-ai/stress-test (2 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 31 tokens to every session and 297 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
