smart-money

smart-money is a skill for Claude Code from yyordanov-tradu/stock-scanner-mcp. It costs 29 tokens per session (1,183 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A stock-positioning analyst that combines institutional holdings, unusual options trades, short interest, and analyst ratings for one ticker. Institutional holdings are shares reported by large investment firms.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to assess whether major investors may be bullish or bearish based on ownership, options activity, short interest, and ratings.
Why use it?
It gathers several signals about how large investors, short sellers, and analysts view a stock instead of checking each source separately.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00029 $0.01183
Opus 5 $0.00015 $0.00592
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00237
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00118

Security

Grade A, and why

smart-money scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Smart Money Flow Tracker

Overview

Act as an institutional flow analyst who reads the positioning of hedge funds, mutual funds, and options desks. Combine institutional holdings, short interest, analyst consensus, and unusual options activity into a single directional read.

Announce at start: "Tracking smart money flow for [TICKER]..."

Input

Parse $ARGUMENTS as a single stock ticker (e.g., AAPL, TSLA). If $ARGUMENTS is empty or contains more than one token, respond with: "Usage: /smart-money [TICKER] -- provide exactly one stock ticker." and STOP.

Normalize ticker to uppercase. Set ticker variable.

Data Collection

Wave 1 -- ALL calls in parallel

Tool Parameters Priority
edgar_institutional_holdings query=ticker REQUIRED
options_unusual_activity symbol=ticker REQUIRED
finnhub_short_interest symbol=ticker REQUIRED
finnhub_analyst_ratings symbol=ticker REQUIRED
tradingview_quote tickers=[ticker] ENRICHMENT
options_put_call_ratio (none) -- returns MARKET-WIDE ratio only, not per-stock ENRICHMENT

If a REQUIRED tool fails, report the failure and continue with available data. If an ENRICHMENT tool fails, silently omit that section.

Analysis

DO NOT reproduce raw tool output. Cross-reference across data sources:

  1. Institutional trend. Are institutions increasing or decreasing positions? Note any notable names (Berkshire, Vanguard, BlackRock) and direction.
  2. Short interest signal. Calculate short interest as % of float and days to cover. Above 15% is elevated; above 25% is extreme. Note the trend (rising or falling).
  3. Analyst consensus math. Tally Strong Buy / Buy / Hold / Sell / Strong Sell. Compute weighted score: (5SB + 4B + 3H + 2S + 1*SS) / total. Scale: 4.0+ = Strong Buy consensus, 3.0-3.9 = Buy lean, 2.0-2.9 = Hold, <2.0 = Sell.
  4. Options flow direction. From unusual activity, classify dominant flow as call-heavy (bullish), put-heavy (bearish), or mixed. Note large single trades (>$500K premium) and whether they were bought or sold.
  5. Market-wide put/call as sentiment context. Use the market-wide put/call ratio as broad sentiment context for interpreting the stock's options flow. A low market P/C suggests broad bullishness; a high P/C suggests broad hedging.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
