clinpgx-database

clinpgx-database is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Zaoqu-Liu/ScienceClaw. It costs 45 tokens per session (5,236 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of clinpgx-database, MIT.

A guide to ClinPGx, a database of how genetic differences affect responses to medicines. It brings together information from pharmacogenomics resources, including clinical guidelines and drug labels.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps find gene–drug relationships, allele functions, clinical guidelines, regulatory labels, and information for genotype-guided medication decisions.
Why use it?
It helps avoid searching separate sources when investigating whether a person’s genes may affect a medicine’s effectiveness, side effects, or dose.

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

Security

Grade A, and why

clinpgx-database scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

ClinPGx Database

Overview

ClinPGx (Clinical Pharmacogenomics Database) is a comprehensive resource for clinical pharmacogenomics information, successor to PharmGKB. It consolidates data from PharmGKB, CPIC, and PharmCAT, providing curated information on how genetic variation affects medication response. Access gene-drug pairs, clinical guidelines, allele functions, and drug labels for precision medicine applications.

When to Use This Skill

This skill should be used when:

  • Gene-drug interactions: Querying how genetic variants affect drug metabolism, efficacy, or toxicity
  • CPIC guidelines: Accessing evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for pharmacogenetics
  • Allele information: Retrieving allele function, frequency, and phenotype data
  • Drug labels: Exploring FDA and other regulatory pharmacogenomic drug labeling
  • Pharmacogenomic annotations: Accessing curated literature on gene-drug-disease relationships
  • Clinical decision support: Using PharmDOG tool for phenoconversion and custom genotype interpretation
  • Precision medicine: Implementing pharmacogenomic testing in clinical practice
  • Drug metabolism: Understanding CYP450 and other pharmacogene functions
  • Personalized dosing: Finding genotype-guided dosing recommendations
  • Adverse drug reactions: Identifying genetic risk factors for drug toxicity

Installation and Setup

Python API Access

The ClinPGx REST API provides programmatic access to all database resources. Basic setup:

uv pip install requests

API Endpoint

BASE_URL = "https://api.clinpgx.org/v1/"

Rate Limits:

  • 2 requests per second maximum
  • Excessive requests will result in HTTP 429 (Too Many Requests) response

Authentication: Not required for basic access

clinpgx-database is a skill published in the GitHub repository Zaoqu-Liu/ScienceClaw (60 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 45 tokens to every session and 5,236 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). It is 89% identical to clinpgx-database, differing in 6 lines, and is treated as a copy.
