viewer-caution

viewer-caution is a cursor rule for Cursor from snoozbuster/is-smm-beaten-yet. It costs 0 tokens per session (287 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

Rules for editing viewer code that parses and draws Super Mario Maker 1 level files. The viewer uses untyped JavaScript, so its data shapes and parsing behavior need manual checking.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when modifying viewer code or its callers, especially level parsing, previews, course-data extraction, and interfaces between JavaScript and Vue components.
Why use it?
They warn against changing the order or meaning of binary parsing steps, which could silently break level loading or the code that consumes it.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.00287
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00143
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00057
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00029

Security

Grade A, and why

viewer-caution scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Viewer caution

The viewer/ directory is a fork of leomaurodesenv/smm-course-viewer. It contains untyped JavaScript that parses and draws SMM1 level files (.cdt). See viewer/README.md for full context.

Critical:

  1. Untyped JS: ESLint runs on .js but there is no TypeScript type checking. Changes to viewer code and its call sites (e.g. LevelPreview.vue, scripts/extract-course-data.js) must be manually checked so APIs and return shapes line up.

  2. Binary parsing: Parsing in viewer/SmmCourseViewer.js is order- and format-sensitive. Do not change the order or semantics of parsing logic; the code must do exactly what it does in the same order every time.

Do: Prefer not touching parsing; if you must, make minimal, well-reasoned edits and verify manually.

Don't: Reorder parsing steps, change byte/field interpretation, or assume TypeScript/lint will catch viewer ↔ caller mismatches.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
