gtm-conversion-setup-guide is a skill for Claude Code from Ad-Superpowers/ad-superpowers-plugin. It costs 109 tokens per session (5,885 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A practical guide to setting up conversion tracking in Google Tag Manager, a tool that controls tracking tags on a website. It covers tag types, event triggers, required values, variables, and testing for services such as Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta, and LinkedIn.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to add or troubleshoot conversion tags, configure trigger rules and data values, and check whether tracking fires correctly in the debugger.
Why use it?
It helps prevent conversions from being missed, counted twice, or fired under the wrong conditions.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00109 $0.05885
Opus 5.5 $0.00044 $0.02354
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00022 $0.01177
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00588

Security

Grade A, and why

gtm-conversion-setup-guide scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

GTM Conversion Setup Guide

This skill covers the tactical implementation of conversion tracking tags in Google Tag Manager. For each ad platform, you get the exact tag type, required fields, trigger configuration, and variable setup needed to make conversions fire correctly.

Prerequisites

Before implementing tags, ensure you have:

  • A GTM container installed on all pages (via <script> in <head>)
  • A tracking plan defining which events to implement (see tracking-plan-builder skill)
  • A data layer pushing events from your website code
  • Access to each ad platform's conversion/event configuration UI
  • GTM Preview mode familiarity (the debugger panel)

Use gtm_list_containers to verify your GTM containers and gtm_audit to see what is already configured.

Part 1: GA4 Tags

GA4 Configuration Tag (Google Tag)

This is the foundation. Every GA4 property needs exactly one Google Tag that loads on all pages.

Setting Value
Tag Type Google Tag
Tag ID G-XXXXXXXXXX (your Measurement ID)
Trigger All Pages (Page View)
Firing Priority High (fires first)
Configuration Parameters (optional but recommended)
Parameter Value Purpose
send_page_view true Auto page views (default)
debug_mode true (dev only) Enables GA4 DebugView
user_id {{DLV - user_id}} Cross-device tracking
cookie_flags SameSite=None;Secure Cross-site cookie support

GA4 Event Tags

Create one GA4 Event tag per custom event or per standard event that needs extra parameters.

Purchase Event Tag
Setting Value
Tag Type Google Analytics: GA4 Event
Measurement ID G-XXXXXXXXXX
Event Name purchase
Trigger Custom Event: purchase

Event Parameters:

Parameter Name Value
transaction_id {{DLV - ecommerce.transaction_id}}
value {{DLV - ecommerce.value}}
currency {{DLV - ecommerce.currency}}
tax {{DLV - ecommerce.tax}}
shipping {{DLV - ecommerce.shipping}}
coupon {{DLV - ecommerce.coupon}}
items {{DLV - ecommerce.items}}

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
