freeagent

freeagent is a skill for Claude Code from apideck-libraries/api-skills. It costs 71 tokens per session (2,163 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

An integration for connecting a coding agent to FreeAgent, an accounting service for financial records such as invoices, bills, payments, accounts, and journal entries.

In plain words
What is it for?
Reading, creating, and reconciling invoices, bills, payments, ledger accounts, and journal entries.
Why use it?
It avoids building separate connection and data-handling code for FreeAgent and other accounting systems. The connector is in beta, so some operations may be incomplete.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00071 $0.02163
Opus 5.5 $0.00028 $0.00865
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00014 $0.00433
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00216

Security

Grade A, and why

freeagent scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

FreeAgent (via Apideck)

Access FreeAgent through Apideck's Accounting unified API — one of 34 Accounting connectors that share the same method surface. Code you write here ports to Access Financials, Acumatica, banqUP and 30 other Accounting connectors by changing a single serviceId string. Apideck handles auth, pagination, rate limiting, and retries so you don't write per-tenant FreeAgent plumbing.

Beta connector. FreeAgent is currently in beta on Apideck. Expect partial resource coverage and occasional mapping gaps. Always verify coverage (see below) and fall back to the Proxy API for unsupported operations.

Quick facts

At a glance

  • Implementation difficulty: straightforward — Self-Service OAuth App + Free Sandbox — No Partnership or App Review
  • Vendor partnership required: no — Free self-service app registration at the FreeAgent Developer Dashboard: https://dev.freeagent.com/signup
  • Apideck-managed credentials: available — Testing only: Apideck's shared app connects to the production FreeAgent API, so use a test company, not live books. Go live with your own app.
  • Account type required: Any active FreeAgent subscription
  • Consumer access level: Any FreeAgent user can authorize; the connection operates at the authorizing user's permission level, so a full-access user is recommended for complete data.
  • Sandbox: available (signup) — Free self-service sandbox account.
  • Costs: API access is free (API Terms v2.1, February 2025; fees possible on 30 days' notice); consumers need an active FreeAgent subscription (30-day free trial).
  • Rate limits: 120 requests/minute and 3,600 requests/hour, per user.
  • Authentication: Authorization Code flow.
  • Webhooks: No webhooks — no native or virtual webhooks; data sync is polling-based.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
