In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to read, create, or reconcile accounting records in Pennylane, or to adapt accounting code for other supported services.
Why use it?
It avoids building separate connection, pagination, rate-limit, and retry code for Pennylane. The connector is in beta, so some operations may not be covered.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00077 $0.02450
Opus 5.5 $0.00031 $0.00980
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00015 $0.00490
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00245

Security

Grade A, and why

pennylane scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 20d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Pennylane (via Apideck)

Access Pennylane through Apideck's Accounting unified API — one of 34 Accounting connectors that share the same method surface. Code you write here ports to Access Financials, Acumatica, banqUP and 30 other Accounting connectors by changing a single serviceId string. Apideck handles auth, pagination, rate limiting, and retries so you don't write per-tenant Pennylane plumbing.

Beta connector. Pennylane is currently in beta on Apideck. Expect partial resource coverage and occasional mapping gaps. Always verify coverage (see below) and fall back to the Proxy API for unsupported operations.

Quick facts

At a glance

  • Implementation difficulty: moderate — Partner-Issued Credentials Required — OAuth apps are provisioned manually by Pennylane's Partnerships team (no self-service portal); otherwise a standard OAuth authorization-code connect.
  • Vendor partnership required: yes (developer portal) — OAuth Client ID and Secret are issued by Pennylane's Partnerships team after manual validation. No fee.
  • Apideck-managed credentials: not available — Consumers supply their own partnership-issued OAuth credentials in every environment.
  • Account type required: Active Pennylane account (app.pennylane.com) with at least one company set up.
  • Consumer access level: A user with permission to authorize third-party (OAuth) apps for the company.
  • Sandbox: available — Existing accounts self-serve a developer API token for testing. OAuth partner-app credentials still require the Partnerships team. Same limits as production.
  • Costs: No partnership or API fees; consumers need a Pennylane subscription that includes API access.
  • Rate limits: 25 requests per 5 seconds per token (production and sandbox).
  • Authentication: Authorization Code flow.
  • Webhooks: Virtual webhooks — created and updated events for customers, suppliers, invoices, invoice items and bills.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
