team-kb-index

team-kb-index is a skill for Claude Code from atman-33/workhub. It costs 54 tokens per session (313 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An index maintenance tool for a shared team knowledge base. It rebuilds the catalog files that list topics and notes so people and coding agents can find the documentation.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it after adding or moving several knowledge notes, or when the catalog no longer matches the folders. It updates topic indexes, the root index, and the activity log.
Why use it?
Stale indexes can hide notes, moved files, or new topics even when the documents still exist. This tool identifies and fixes straightforward indexing problems and reports remaining issues.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00054 $0.00313
Opus 5 $0.00027 $0.00156
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00063
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00031

Security

Grade A, and why

team-kb-index scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Maintain the team KB indexes

Keep every _index.md under <teamRoot>/ai/knowledge/ an accurate, one-line-per-note catalog — the KB's search surface for humans and agents.

Steps

  1. Resolve the KB root from <team-context>.
  2. Inventory: Glob knowledge/**/*.md, excluding _index.md files.
  3. Per topic folder: regenerate its _index.md — a heading, one table or list line per note ([title](file.md) — one-line hook), in the team content language. Preserve any hand-written prose above the listing.
  4. Root index: regenerate the topic table in knowledge/_index.md (topic → what lives there). List topics that gained a folder but have no _index.md yet, and create those.
  5. Report drift: notes not reachable from any index, empty topic folders, or names violating kebab-case — fix mechanically where obvious, otherwise list for the user.
  6. Append one line to _meta/activity-log.md (- <date> [<agent>/<me>] team-kb-index: rebuilt N indexes).
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
