UnitySkills is a REST API-based automation engine that lets AI coding agents control Unity Editor projects, including scenes and other editor operations. It is for developers using Unity with supported coding agents and IDEs. The catalogue skills and commands provide the agent workflows used to operate Unity projects through the engine.
Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

What it costs to keep this loaded
Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00033 | $0.00622 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00016 | $0.00311 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00007 | $0.00124 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00003 | $0.00062 |
Grade A, and why
unity-manual-material scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 76 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Triggers
- Creating a new Material asset
- Changing a material color or shader
- Dragging a material onto a MeshRenderer or Mesh
Manual Material Tasks
Step-by-step instructions for Material operations inside the Unity Editor. Paths assume the default English Unity UI; translate the labels into the user's Unity language when replying.
When to guide manually vs automate
Guide manually when the user can finish the task in 3 clicks or fewer: creating one Material, picking a color, or assigning a Material to one object.
Automate when the task involves bulk material creation, batch property edits, shader keyword toggles across many materials, or render-queue changes — use the material REST module instead.
Create a Material asset
Step 1 — Open the create menu in the Project window
Right-click in the Project window, then choose Create > Material.
Alternative path:
- Main menu
Assets > Create > Material
Step 2 — Name the Material
Type the new name and press Enter.
Change the Material color
Step 1 — Select the Material
Click the Material asset in the Project window.
Step 2 — Edit the Base Color / Albedo
In the Inspector:
- For URP/HDRP Lit shaders, click the Base Map color swatch (or Base Color field).
- For Built-in Standard, click the Albedo color swatch.
- Pick a color in the color picker and close it.
Change the shader
Step 1 — Select the Material
Select the Material asset in the Project window.
Step 2 — Change Shader
At the top of the Inspector, click the Shader dropdown and choose a shader (e.g., Universal Render Pipeline > Lit, Standard, Unlit/Color).
The available shader list depends on the active render pipeline and installed packages.
Assign a Material to an object
Step 1 — Drag the Material
Click and drag the Material asset from the Project window.
Step 2 — Drop it onto the object
Drop the Material onto:
- The object in the Scene view.
- The object's entry in the Hierarchy.
- The Material slot in the Mesh Renderer component in the Inspector.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

unity-manual-material is a skill published in the GitHub repository Besty0728/Unity-Skills (1,714 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 33 tokens to every session and 622 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
