Awesome Journal Skills is a collection of agent skill packs tailored to hundreds of academic journals across fields including economics, social science, medicine, science, and engineering. Researchers use the packs for tasks such as choosing topics, designing empirical strategies, preparing tables and figures, submitting papers, and responding to reviewers. The catalogue entries are the project's journal-specific skills and related plugins.
Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00000 | $0.01244 |
| Opus 5.5 | $0.00000 | $0.00498 |
| Sonnet 5.5 | $0.00000 | $0.00249 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00000 | $0.00124 |
Grade A, and why
aeri-literature-positioning scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 85 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Literature Positioning — Compressed (aeri-literature-positioning)
When to trigger
- The contribution relative to the nearest paper is fuzzy or oversold
- A draft contains a multi-page literature review that the format cannot afford
- A referee might say "this is already known" or "this is a known method applied"
- You need to show the single insight is new without spending the word budget
The short-format positioning problem
AER: Insights gives you no room for a survey. Positioning must be done in one or two paragraphs that do exactly one job: pin the single closest prior result and state precisely what your one insight adds, corrects, or overturns. Because the whole paper is one idea, the literature task is narrow — locate that idea on the frontier, not map the whole field. The word budget is shared with everything else (≤7,000 words minus exhibits), so every citation must earn its place.
How to position in two paragraphs
- Name the closest paper(s), not a field. Identify the one or two papers a referee will immediately think of. Engage them directly: what did they establish, and what did they leave open or get wrong that your insight resolves?
- State the delta as a single clause. "We show X, where the closest prior work showed only Y / assumed Z / left W unresolved." The delta must match the one-sentence insight from
aeri-topic-selection. - Defend novelty without inflation. AER: Insights referees punish both "this is already known" and overclaiming. Calibrate: claim exactly the marginal contribution, no more.
- Push the broad literature to the appendix or footnotes. Tangential citations and related-strands discussion go to a footnote or the Supplemental Appendix, never an in-text section.
Decision table: what kind of gap is it?
| Gap type | One-line framing | Watch-out |
|---|---|---|
| New result on an open question | "It was unknown whether …; we show …" | be sure it is genuinely open, not just unaddressed-by-you |
| Overturning a believed result | "Prior work concluded X; with [better design/data] we find not-X" | engage the prior paper's design fairly |
| Sharpening / separating channels | "Prior work left A and B bundled together; we isolate ..." | show the separation is the contribution |
| Method that changes the answer | "Applying [method] to [setting] reverses the standard conclusion" | the payoff, not the method, is the contribution |
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

aeri-literature-positioning is a skill published in the GitHub repository brycewang-stanford/Awesome-Journal-Skills (1,289 stars, last pushed 26d ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 1,244 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-15.
