pragmatic

pragmatic is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from cherninlab/ennodia. It costs 30 tokens per session (1,303 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide to coordinating several independent coding-agent attempts through Ennodia MCP, then comparing their evidence against the full task requirements. MCP is a standard way for an agent to connect to external tools and services.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to discover available agents and skills, organize specialist attempts, compare outputs, and verify that the accepted result meets the whole task.
Why use it?
It helps choose an appropriate amount of parallel work instead of repeatedly repairing one unsuitable attempt. It also emphasizes checking access, costs, deadlines, and evidence before judging results.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00030 $0.01303
Opus 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00521
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00261
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00130

Security

Grade A, and why

pragmatic scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Pragmatic orchestration

Use Ennodia MCP to finish the user's task with lower total cost per accepted result. This is experimental guidance, not a savings guarantee. One main agent can organize N independent attempts with tailored questions, useful model or skill differences, and evidence comparison. N=1 remains valid for a specialist or handoff. Do not treat repeated supervision and repair of one cheap worker as the default architecture.

Organize the work

  1. Establish the complete task, acceptance evidence, permitted actions, source paths, and an explained execution allowance with time for verification. A direct command is sufficient for a simple lookup. For difficult work, ask Ennodia to organize purposeful independent attempts rather than manually inventing every specialist question. Steps 3 and 4 and a separate Compare use Ennodia's full tool set. If ennodia_start_plan_advice is missing, use ennodia_run with pragmatic, or tell the user to add --tools all to the Ennodia server arguments.

  2. Discover ennodia_list_harnesses and ennodia_list_skills for the target cwd. Verify model IDs through supported harness configuration or CLI discovery. Read media inputGuidance; require a small native sample probe with file, range, tool and content-specific evidence. Caller tools may be absent in workers. Missing access, quota and deadlines require diagnosis, not a model-quality verdict.

  3. Use ennodia_start_plan_advice with the full objective and discovered model allowlists. Request independent approaches, tailored questions and, when useful or requested, matched trials with a discovered skill and no requested skill. Let the Advisor choose assignments within the caller's limits. Inspect the validated plan, acceptance coverage and inventory. Launch a ready plan with ennodia_start_advised_plan and its exact digest. An invalid plan starts no workers: preserve it, inspect the validation issues, and correct the specific problem. Do not silently treat invalid advice as executable.

  4. Use ennodia_start_compositional for caller-defined or revised slices with distinct models, prompts or skill lists. skillIds: [] means no requested skills; it does not disable native skill discovery. Inspect unrequestedSkillsPresent and actual tool traces. A strict skill/no-skill experiment requires matching isolated environments and observed skill loading. Do not claim a skill effect when the trials also change model, prompt or fixtures.

  5. Use ennodia_run when one prompt and its routing are sufficient. In version 0.3.0, pragmatic: {recipe: "investigate" | "patch", acceptanceCriteria: "..."} adds an evidence contract while preserving single, parallel and comparison choices. Compositional start and estimate accept the same contract.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

pragmatic is a skill published in the GitHub repository cherninlab/ennodia (5 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 30 tokens to every session and 1,303 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-19.
