Three.js + Next.js Integration Guidance
Provenance: created to address the well-known friction of integrating Three.js (and its React wrapper ecosystem) with Next.js App Router / React 19. Three.js has 312+ published releases with significant API churn, and Next.js 16's default Turbopack bundler breaks many Webpack-era patterns. Always verify versions before advising — see §Version Detection below.

Version Prompting Rules
You MUST determine the user's Three.js ecosystem versions BEFORE
providing any concrete code or migration guidance. Three.js ships 10–12
releases per year with breaking API changes; React Three Fiber v8 vs v9 is
the React 18 vs React 19 split; @react-three/drei lags three by months
and silently breaks on major Three.js changes.
If the user has NOT specified versions:
STOP and ask:
