hivemind: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/hivemind-custom-view/SKILL.md

hivemind-custom-view is a skill for Claude Code from dip497/hivemind. It costs 89 tokens per session (5,805 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for building a custom Hivemind workspace view, which is a screen that draws running work, tiles, frames, and agent status. It explains the view protocol, rendering rules, permissions, theming, and packaging.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when creating or installing a custom interface for monitoring Hivemind work and agents.
Why use it?
It helps avoid blank or incomplete screens caused by Hivemind's restricted sandbox, where network requests, external fonts, scripts, and frames are blocked.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00089 $0.05805
Opus 5.5 $0.00036 $0.02322
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00018 $0.01161
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00581

Security

Grade A, and why

hivemind-custom-view scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Building a Hivemind view

Why this exists

A view is not a panel in the app. It is the app's window onto running work: when a view is active it draws every frame, every tile and every agent's status, and the user is looking at your canvas instead of Hivemind's. A view that stops drawing does not degrade — the user loses sight of agents that are still running.

The trap is not the protocol, which is small. It is that a view runs under default-src 'none' in an opaque origin, and the web reflexes that fail there fail silently. fetch() of anything but the view's own files does not throw a useful error, it is refused by connect-src. A Google Font link loads nothing. An <iframe> is frame-src 'none'. A CDN <script> is not on hm-view:. Authors lose an afternoon to a blank canvas because they assumed a normal page.

What you are given, and what you may do

The host sends a projection, not the workspace. You get frames (id, title, colour), tiles (id, frameId, kind, name), selection, per-tile status on subscription, theme, viewport and visibility. A 1.3 host also gives you when each status began, discrete events, output levels, whether the user is at the machine, and a day's history. You never get a command line, a working directory, file contents, or anything a terminal is showing — output is a level from 0 to 3, never text or a byte count.

You may send back: selection and focus changes, surface rects, a reveal answer, a persisted layout blob, a frame count, and — only if the manifest asked — spawn and close commands.

That asymmetry is the design. A view decides how the workspace looks; it does not decide what runs.

The smallest view that works

hive plugins new view my-view writes all of it — the manifest, an entry page, src/main.ts, the build, and the SDK's source under types/view-sdk/ for tsc. The id is scoped to the GitHub login (@login/my-view); HiveHub refuses any other scope. The parts:

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
