wave4-burst-compilation-contract

wave4-burst-compilation-contract is a skill for Claude Code from dyCuong03/unity-agent-team. It costs 34 tokens per session (721 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A Unity Burst-compilation guide for marking systems and jobs so their scheduling and execution code can be compiled to native code. Burst is Unity's compiler for speeding up suitable C# game code.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when writing Unity ECS systems or jobs, especially when deciding where to add Burst annotations and how to avoid unsupported managed APIs.
Why use it?
It helps ensure performance-critical jobs use Burst correctly and identifies managed operations that Burst cannot handle.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00034 $0.00721
Opus 5.5 $0.00014 $0.00288
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00007 $0.00144
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00072

Security

Grade A, and why

wave4-burst-compilation-contract scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Burst Compilation Contract

Intent

Apply [BurstCompile] correctly to ISystem methods and job structs to guarantee native-code compilation of both scheduling and execution paths.

Use When

All ISystem implementations and all job structs — apply [BurstCompile] by default. Opt out only when managed APIs are unavoidably required.

Avoid When

  • Method calls managed APIs (string formatting, List<T>, class allocations) — Burst fails or silently inserts [BurstDiscard] behavior.
  • System extends SystemBase — OnUpdate cannot be Burst-compiled; only inner job structs can.

Senior Pattern

// ISystem: mark the struct AND each method individually
[BurstCompile]
public partial struct MySystem : ISystem
{
    [BurstCompile]
    public void OnCreate(ref SystemState state) { }

    [BurstCompile]
    public void OnUpdate(ref SystemState state) { }

    [BurstCompile]
    public void OnDestroy(ref SystemState state) { }
}

// Job struct: mark both the struct AND Execute()
[BurstCompile]
public partial struct MyJob : IJobEntity
{
    public float Delta;

    [BurstCompile]
    public void Execute(ref Position pos, in Velocity vel)
    {
        pos.Value += vel.Value * Delta;
    }
}

// Isolating managed calls in Burst path via [BurstDiscard]:
[BurstDiscard]
private static void DebugOnly(string msg) { Debug.Log(msg); }

Anti-Patterns

  • Marking only the struct [BurstCompile] but not Execute() — struct compilation does not transitively compile Execute in all Unity versions.
  • Calling Debug.Log inside a [BurstCompile] method — compilation error in strict mode.
  • Adding [BurstCompile] to SystemBase.OnUpdate — silently ignored.
  • Missing [BurstCompile] on Execute() is not a compile error — job runs at IL2CPP/Mono speed (10–100x slower for math-heavy code) with no warning.

Runtime Risks

  • [BurstDiscard] on initializer methods means Burst-compiled callers skip initialization entirely — requires EarlyJobInit<T>.Init() call in OnCreate to pre-initialize job reflection data.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

wave4-burst-compilation-contract is a skill published in the GitHub repository dyCuong03/unity-agent-team (7 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 34 tokens to every session and 721 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-02.
