knowledge-catalog-discovery

knowledge-catalog-discovery is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Kilo-Org/kilo-marketplace. It costs 47 tokens per session (1,032 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A set of tools for finding and examining assets in Knowledge Catalog, a service that stores information about data such as tables, datasets, and views.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to search catalog entries, inspect specific assets, and explore the kinds of metadata attached to them.
Why use it?
It removes the need to search for data assets and piece together their metadata and relationships manually.

SkillSpector: 2 findings, up to high

These are SkillSpector’s own severities. On a checked sample its high-severity flags on skills were ~96% false positives — a documented command, a public API, a “never do X” rule — so we show them as a caution to read, not a verdict. Why →

  • high Privilege Escalation · line 26
Code accesses credential files (SSH keys, AWS credentials, etc.). This could indicate credential theft attempts.
Fix: Remove references to credential paths. Use environment variables or secrets managers. For docs, use placeholder paths (e.g., /path/to/config). Never load .env or token files in production code paths.
  • medium Excessive Agency · line 26
Skill enables autonomous high-impact decisions without human-in-the-loop verification. Critical operations (destructive commands, financial transactions, data deletion) should require explicit user confirmation.
Fix: Add human-in-the-loop confirmation for destructive, irreversible, or high-impact operations. Never auto-execute commands that modify files, send data, or alter system state.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00047 $0.01032
Opus 5 $0.00023 $0.00516
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00206
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00103

Security

Grade A, and why

knowledge-catalog-discovery scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 4 executable files (scripts/lookup_context.js, scripts/lookup_entry.js, scripts/search_aspect_types.js, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 103 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Usage

All scripts can be executed using Node.js. Replace <param_name> and <param_value> with actual values.

Bash: node <skill_dir>/scripts/<script_name>.js '{"<param_name>": "<param_value>"}'

PowerShell: node <skill_dir>/scripts/<script_name>.js '{\"<param_name>\": \"<param_value>\"}'

Note: The scripts automatically load the environment variables from various .env files. Do not ask the user to set vars unless skill executions fails due to env var absence.

Scripts

lookup_context

Retrieves rich metadata regarding one or more data assets along with their relationships.

Parameters
Name Type Description Required Default
resources array Required. A list of up to 10 resource names. Resources may belong to different projects, but all must belong to the same location. Yes

lookup_entry

Retrieves a specific metadata regarding a data asset (e.g. table/dataset/view) from Catalog

Parameters
Name Type Description Required Default
entry string Required. The resource name of the Entry in the following form: projects/{project}/locations/{location}/entryGroups/{entryGroup}/entries/{entry}. Yes
view integer
			## Argument: view

			**Type:** Integer

**Description:** Optional. Specifies the parts of the entry and its aspects to return.

			**Possible Values:**

			* 1 (BASIC): Returns entry without aspects.
			* 2 (FULL): Return all required aspects and the keys of non-required aspects. (Default)
			* 3 (CUSTOM): Return the entry and aspects requested in aspect_types field (at most 100 aspects). Always use this view when aspect_types is not empty.
			* 4 (ALL): Return the entry and both required and optional aspects (at most 100 aspects)
			 | No | `2` |

| aspectTypes | array | Optional. Limits the aspects returned to the provided aspect types. It only works when used together with CUSTOM view. | No | [] |

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
