Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00154 | $0.01068 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00077 | $0.00534 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00031 | $0.00214 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00015 | $0.00107 |
Grade A, and why
jellyfin-library-catalog scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 90 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Jellyfin Library Catalog
Domain-typed browse/search over a Jellyfin library through the
jellyfin_library condensed tool. Prefer it over raw HTTP — it action-routes
directly to the library client methods and returns Jellyfin item-shaped records.
When to use
- List / filter library items (
get_items) by type, parent folder, genre, year. - Fetch a single item by id (
get_item) or resume list (get_resume_items). - Inspect collections (
get_collections) and user views (get_user_views). - Resolve a title to an item id via search hints (
get_search_hints).
When NOT to use
- Streaming, playback control, artists, playlists →
jellyfin-media-playback. - Users, API keys, backups, server config → the
jellyfin_systemtool. - Ingesting the catalog into the KG →
jellyfin-kg-ingestion.
Prerequisites & environment
Connect via the mcp-client skill against the jellyfin-mcp MCP server.
| Variable | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
JELLYFIN_URL |
✅ | Base server URL (e.g. https://jelly.host) |
JELLYFIN_API_KEY / JELLYFIN_TOKEN |
✅ | X-Emby-Token API key |
JELLYFIN_USER_ID |
optional | Default user_id for user-scoped reads |
JELLYFIN_VERIFY_SSL |
optional | TLS verification toggle |
MCP_TOOL_MODE (condensed|verbose|both) selects the condensed surface used
below vs. the one-to-one verbose tools.
Tools & actions
Prefer the condensed tool; it takes action + a params_json JSON string
whose keys map straight to the client method kwargs.
| Condensed tool | Actions |
|---|---|
jellyfin_library |
get_items, get_item, get_resume_items, get_collections, create_collection, add_to_collection, remove_from_collection, get_user_views, get_search_hints, get_latest_media, get_genres, get_studios, get_persons |
Key parameters
include_item_types— e.g.["Movie","Series","Audio","Book"].parent_id— scope to one library/folder;recursive: trueto walk children.user_id— user-scoped reads (playstate, favorites); defaults to env.search_term/fields/limit/start_index— filtering + pagination.item_id— required forget_item.
What ships with it
1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

jellyfin-library-catalog is a skill published in the GitHub repository Knuckles-Team/jellyfin-mcp (3 stars, last pushed 15d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 154 tokens to every session and 1,068 once invoked, about $0.0008 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
