literature-review

literature-review is a skill for Claude Code from luffysolution-svg/obsidian-vault-mcp. It costs 57 tokens per session (331 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for synthesising a defined group of research papers or a Zotero collection by comparing themes, methods, findings, disagreements, and research gaps. It is intended for literature reviews rather than a single-paper summary.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to map a paper pool, deeply read key studies, build cross-study comparisons, and produce a concise research-state summary.
Why use it?
It keeps the review focused on a stated question and source boundary while separating strong agreement from conflicts and missing evidence.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00057 $0.00331
Opus 5 $0.00028 $0.00166
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00066
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00033

Security

Grade A, and why

literature-review scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Literature review

Read discipline profiles to select default synthesis axes and the output contract before saving.

  1. State the review question, source pool, time or topic boundary, and inclusion limits.
  2. Preserve a user-specified pool. Use literature_retrieve for the initial cross-paper map.
  3. Select the primary discipline profile from the question and sources; user priorities override profile defaults.
  4. Deep-read only pivotal papers and unresolved themes with targeted literature_paper_read calls.
  5. Organize the review by themes, mechanisms, methods, theories, or another question-driven taxonomy.
  6. Build a cross-study matrix and distinguish consensus, conflict, non-comparability, and missing information.
  7. Do not describe search candidates as deeply read sources or call a selective review systematic.
  8. Generate a concise summary and source boundary.
  9. Use literature_analysis_get to avoid duplicates, then literature_analysis_write in dry-run mode; inspect before committing the review.

Never organize the main synthesis as one summary per paper or imply exhaustive coverage without an exhaustive process.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
