ncr-intake

ncr-intake is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from microsoft/cat-agent-skills. It costs 84 tokens per session (413 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An intake step that turns an NCR, complaint log, and inspection data into the starting record for a CAPA. A CAPA is a structured process for correcting a quality problem and preventing it from returning.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps open a CAPA or 8D investigation, extract NCR details, load complaint records, and record any pressure to close the case.
Why use it?
It gives the CAPA process a consistent starting point without making premature root-cause judgments. It preserves source references and complaint rows needed for later analysis.

About the project

microsoft/cat-agent-skills is a static website that catalogs reusable instruction sets and related packages for AI agents. People use it to search, filter, rate, and download skills for Cowork, Copilot Studio, and Scout, along with Copilot plugins and Scout automations. The catalogue entries are the skills, instructions, plugins, and settings displayed by the site.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00084 $0.00413
Opus 5.5 $0.00034 $0.00165
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00017 $0.00083
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00041

Security

Grade A, and why

ncr-intake scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

NCR Intake

Purpose

Turn the source NCR, complaint log and inspection data into the CAPA entry payload.

When to use

Start of every CAPA run - typically on handoff from Quality Inspection & Nonconformance.

Inputs

The NCR contract payload or NCR document (JSON/text/PDF); complaint/defect log export (CSV/XLSX); inspection data. Emits the entry hop of mfg.quality-incident-capa.v1 (schema in contracts/).

Steps

  1. Extract ncr_ref (NCR id, part, lot, defect, disposition) from the source NCR - preserve its citations.
  2. Load the complaint log for the window (default 180 days); keep part_number, machine, cause_category, date per row.
  3. Note any closure-pressure language in the record verbatim (it gets surfaced, not obeyed).
  4. Validate against the contract; write capa-intake.json + complaints.csv.

Output

capa-intake.json + complaints.csv - the entry hop.

Grounding requirements

ncr_ref carries the source NCR's citations; complaint rows keep their log row identity.

Constraints

  • No root-cause opinions here - that is root-cause-analyze's job.
  • Never drop complaint rows because they belong to other parts - the systemic test needs them.

Escalation / uncertainty

Missing complaint log or window ambiguity: ask the quality engineer; record in escalations[].

Files

What ships with it

6 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
