A read-only connection to Canvas LMS, the learning platform used by schools and universities. It can retrieve courses and their assignments through an API token.

Use it to list active or archived courses and list assignments for a course, including ordering them by due date.

Checking course and assignment information manually takes time and makes it harder to build study or administration workflows. This lets scripts fetch that information directly.

Setup

Log in to your Canvas instance in a browser
Go to Account → Settings (click your profile icon, then Settings)
Scroll to Approved Integrations and click + New Access Token
Name the token (e.g., "Hermes Agent"), set an optional expiry, and click Generate Token
Copy the token and add to ${HERMES_HOME:-~/.hermes}/.env:

The base URL is whatever appears in your browser when you're logged into Canvas (no trailing slash).
