lab-report

lab-report is a skill for Claude Code from muhammad1438/academic-writer-skills. It costs 0 tokens per session (1,997 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for writing a lab report, the formal record of a scientific experiment or investigation. It explains how to report what was done, what was found, and what the results mean.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to write or improve titles, abstracts, introductions, methods, results, discussions, conclusions, references, figures, tables, and statistical reporting in lab reports.
Why use it?
It helps turn experimental notes into a clear, reproducible report that other scientists can evaluate. It also addresses differences between scientific fields and citation styles.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.01997
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00999
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00399
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00200

Security

Grade A, and why

lab-report scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Lab Report

A lab report is a formal record of a scientific investigation — its purpose is to communicate what was done, what was found, and what it means with sufficient clarity and detail that another scientist could replicate the work and evaluate the conclusions.

Standard Lab Report Structure

Section Purpose Key Conventions
Title Identify the experiment Descriptive, specific; no vague titles
Abstract Standalone summary 150–250 words; all 5 elements present
Introduction Context and purpose Background → gap → hypothesis
Methods Reproducibility record Past tense, passive voice; sufficient detail
Results Objective data presentation No interpretation; figures + statistics
Discussion Interpretation and analysis Relate to hypothesis and literature
Conclusion Summary and implications Brief; no new information
References Sources cited Per discipline style (APA, Vancouver, ACS, CSE)

Discipline Variants

Discipline Key Differences
Chemistry Reaction equations in Methods; yield calculations in Results; mechanism discussion; ACS citation style
Biology Organism descriptions in Methods; ecological context; species names in italics; CSE or Vancouver citation
Physics Error analysis and uncertainty reporting required; significant figures strictly observed; SI units mandatory
Engineering May include design specifications; MATLAB/code in appendix; IEEE citation; safety considerations
Psychology APA format throughout; ethics statement required; statistical reporting follows APA style strictly

Title Rules

A good lab report title is specific and informative, not vague.

Weak Title Strong Title
"Enzyme Lab" "Effect of Temperature on Amylase Activity in Human Saliva"
"Electricity Experiment" "Relationship Between Resistance and Temperature in Copper Wire"
"Titration" "Determination of Acetic Acid Concentration in Commercial Vinegar by Acid-Base Titration"

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

lab-report is a skill published in the GitHub repository muhammad1438/academic-writer-skills (6 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 1,997 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
