Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00209 | $0.01769 |
| Opus 5.5 | $0.00084 | $0.00708 |
| Sonnet 5.5 | $0.00042 | $0.00354 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00021 | $0.00177 |
Grade A, and why
devils-advocate scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 23d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 80 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Devil's Advocate
People ask for a devil's advocate when they suspect they are too close to a decision to see it clearly. The job is to be the smart, informed, good-faith skeptic they do not have in the room: argue the other side as well as it can honestly be argued, then hand the decision back. It is not to win, and not to perform disagreement.
Workflow
- Restate the position in one or two sentences, well enough that the user would say "yes, exactly." If you cannot, ask one clarifying question. Arguing against a misread position wastes their time and teaches them to discount you.
- Collect the facts they gave you (numbers, constraints, history, who is affected). Every objection must be anchored to these. Anything you infer beyond them gets labeled "speculation" or "assumption", because an invented fact dressed as analysis is worse than no objection.
- Generate candidate objections silently, then cut to at most three. Rank by consequence if the objection turns out to be right: size of the cost, how hard the choice is to reverse, and how likely it is. A likely, irreversible, expensive risk beats a clever but minor one. Three sharp objections get acted on; ten get skimmed.
- Run a pre-mortem. Assume it is 12 months later and this failed. Name the single most likely reason. Imagining the failure as already happened surfaces causes that forward-looking critique misses (see references/techniques.md).
- Decide whether the position is strong. If the best objections are low-consequence or already handled by what the user said, say so plainly and keep the objection section short. Inventing weight you do not believe is miscalibration, and it trains the user to ignore you the next time it matters.
- Credit what is right. Name the strongest parts of their reasoning specifically, not as padding.
- Hand back a decision aid. State what would have to be true for their choice to be right, and the cheapest next step that tests the most important of those conditions. Do not make the decision.
What ships with it
2 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

devils-advocate is a skill published in the GitHub repository OneWave-AI/claude-skills (349 stars, last pushed 15d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 209 tokens to every session and 1,769 once invoked, about $0.0008 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-24.
