tinyfish

tinyfish is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from OpenCoven/coven. It costs 50 tokens per session (1,401 once invoked), scanned B, original, MIT.

A web-automation helper that uses the TinyFish service to read websites, collect data, and perform browser actions from plain-language instructions. It is intended for sites that may block ordinary automated requests.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to scrape websites, extract structured information, automate browser actions, and work with bot-protected pages. A TinyFish API key is required.
Why use it?
It handles website interaction without requiring you to write all the navigation and extraction logic yourself.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00050 $0.01401
Opus 5 $0.00025 $0.00700
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00280
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00140

Measured 4d ago against content hash 7f3132b9c84d, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade B, and why

tinyfish scanned grade B with 2 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/extract.sh), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

TinyFish Web Agent

Requires: TINYFISH_API_KEY environment variable

Pre-flight Check (REQUIRED)

Before making any API call, always run this first to verify the key is available:

[ -n "$TINYFISH_API_KEY" ] && echo "TINYFISH_API_KEY is set" || echo "TINYFISH_API_KEY is NOT set"

If the key is not set, you MUST stop and ask the user to add their API key. Do NOT fall back to other tools or approaches — the task requires TinyFish.

Tell the user:

You need a TinyFish API key. Get one at: https://agent.tinyfish.ai/api-keys

Then set it so the agent can use it:

Option 1 — Environment variable (works everywhere):

read -rsp "TinyFish API key: " TINYFISH_API_KEY
printf '\n'
export TINYFISH_API_KEY

Option 2 — Claude Code settings (Claude Code only): Add to ~/.claude/settings.local.json:

{
  "env": {
    "TINYFISH_API_KEY": "<paste key locally; do not commit>"
  }
}

Do NOT proceed until the key is confirmed available.

Best Practices

  1. Specify JSON format: Always describe the exact structure you want returned
  2. Parallel calls: When extracting from multiple independent sites, make separate parallel calls instead of combining into one prompt

Basic Extract/Scrape

Extract data from a page. Specify the JSON structure you want:

curl -N -s -X POST "https://agent.tinyfish.ai/v1/automation/run-sse" \
  -H "X-API-Key: $TINYFISH_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "url": "https://example.com",
    "goal": "Extract product info as JSON: {\"name\": str, \"price\": str, \"in_stock\": bool}"
  }'

Multiple Items

Extract lists of data with explicit structure:

curl -N -s -X POST "https://agent.tinyfish.ai/v1/automation/run-sse" \
  -H "X-API-Key: $TINYFISH_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "url": "https://example.com/products",
    "goal": "Extract all products as JSON array: [{\"name\": str, \"price\": str, \"url\": str}]"
  }'

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

tinyfish is a skill published in the GitHub repository OpenCoven/coven (41 stars, last pushed 4d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 50 tokens to every session and 1,401 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it B with 2 findings (reads agent configuration directories, makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
