kubernetes

kubernetes is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from OpenHands/extensions. It costs 30 tokens per session (317 once invoked), scanned B, original, MIT.

A tool for creating and managing local Kubernetes clusters with KIND. Kubernetes runs applications in containers, and KIND runs a small Kubernetes cluster inside Docker for local testing.

In plain words
What is it for?
Installing KIND and kubectl, creating local clusters, and developing or testing cloud-native workloads.
Why use it?
It provides a local environment for testing Kubernetes applications without first using a remote cloud cluster.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

Opus 5 $0.00015 $0.00159

Security

Grade B, and why

kubernetes scanned grade B with 2 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

A mod that escalates privileges can change anything on the machine, not only the project.

What it actually says

Kubernetes Local Development with KIND

KIND Installation and Setup

KIND (Kubernetes IN Docker) is a tool for running local Kubernetes clusters using Docker containers as nodes. It's designed for testing Kubernetes applications locally.

IMPORTANT: Before you proceed with installation, make sure you have docker installed locally. Windows PowerShell equivalents for installing KIND and kubectl are in references/windows.md.

Installation

To install KIND on a Debian/Ubuntu system:

# Download KIND binary
curl -Lo ./kind https://kind.sigs.k8s.io/dl/v0.22.0/kind-linux-amd64
# Make it executable
chmod +x ./kind
# Move to a directory in your PATH
sudo mv ./kind /usr/local/bin/

To install kubectl:

# Download kubectl
curl -LO "https://dl.k8s.io/release/$(curl -L -s https://dl.k8s.io/release/stable.txt)/bin/linux/amd64/kubectl"
# Make it executable
chmod +x kubectl
# Move to a directory in your PATH
sudo mv ./kubectl /usr/local/bin/

Creating a Cluster

Create a basic KIND cluster:

kind create cluster
Files

What ships with it

5 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

kubernetes is a skill published in the GitHub repository OpenHands/extensions (143 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 30 tokens to every session and 317 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it B with 2 findings (asks for root, makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
