find-duplicates

find-duplicates is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from pilotspace/pilot-space. It costs 15 tokens per session (1,571 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A workflow that uses semantic similarity to find issues describing the same or closely related problem; pgvector is a database extension for searching numeric text representations.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when creating issues, checking suspected duplicates, or cleaning the backlog by comparing issue titles and descriptions within a project.
Why use it?
It helps prevent duplicate issues from filling the backlog when the wording differs but the underlying problem is similar.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00015 $0.01571
Opus 5 $0.00008 $0.00785
Sonnet 5 $0.00003 $0.00314
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00157

Security

Grade A, and why

find-duplicates scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Find Duplicates Skill

Detect potential duplicate issues using semantic similarity search with pgvector embeddings.

Quick Start

Use this skill when:

  • New issue being created (automatic check)
  • User suspects duplicate exists (/find-duplicates)
  • Cleaning up issue backlog

Example:

New issue: "Users cannot log in with email addresses"

AI finds duplicates:
- "Login fails for email users" (similarity: 0.92, RECOMMENDED duplicate)
- "Email authentication broken" (similarity: 0.88, RECOMMENDED duplicate)
- "User auth not working" (similarity: 0.65, ALTERNATIVE - may be related)

Workflow

  1. Generate Embedding

    • Combine issue title + description
    • Generate embedding using OpenAI text-embedding-3-large (3072 dims)
    • Store in embeddings column (pgvector)
  2. Semantic Search

    • Query pgvector for similar issues using cosine similarity
    • Filter by project_id (same project)
    • Exclude closed/archived issues (optional)
    • Return top 10 matches
  3. Score Similarity

    • RECOMMENDED duplicate (>0.85): Very high semantic overlap
    • DEFAULT duplicate (0.70-0.85): Likely duplicate, needs review
    • ALTERNATIVE related (0.60-0.70): Possibly related, not duplicate
  4. Provide Context

    • Include issue status (open, in_progress, closed)
    • Show creation date (older = likely original)
    • Link to issue for review

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

find-duplicates is a skill published in the GitHub repository pilotspace/pilot-space (2 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 15 tokens to every session and 1,571 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
