regenerator2000: Skill for Claude Code

.agent/skills/verify-mcp/SKILL.md

verify-mcp is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from ricardoquesada/regenerator2000. It costs 17 tokens per session (221 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

An integration test runner for the Regenerator 2000 MCP server. It starts the server when needed, runs the Python checks, and stops a server that it started.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to verify MCP server behavior, including starting the server, running the test suite, and diagnosing startup problems.
Why use it?
It checks that the server works as a whole instead of relying only on individual code-level tests.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00017 $0.00221
Opus 5 $0.00009 $0.00111
Sonnet 5 $0.00003 $0.00044
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00022

Security

Grade A, and why

verify-mcp scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/verify.sh), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Verify MCP Server Skill

This skill runs the tests/verify_mcp.py integration test suite to ensure the MCP server is functioning correctly.

Usage

Run the verification script provided in the scripts directory from the project root. This script will automatically:

  1. Check for .venv directory and create it if missing.
  2. Install dependencies from tests/requirements.txt.
  3. Check if the MCP server is running on port 3000.
  4. If not, build and start it in headless server mode.
  5. Run the Python verification tests.
  6. Shut down the server if it was started by the script.

Command

bash .agent/skills/verify-mcp/scripts/verify.sh

Troubleshooting

  • If the server fails to start, try running cargo run -- --headless --mcp-server manually to see errors.
  • Ensure python3 and requests are installed.
Files

What ships with it

1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
