Jurisdiction gate
Confirm from the governing law, forum, transaction, conduct, parties and requested relief that UK law is materially applicable. Identify England and Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland or the genuinely UK-wide rule, and identify the competent court, tribunal, regulator or authority where material.
If the matter is governed by another jurisdiction, or the governing jurisdiction is unclear, do not apply UK rules. State the scope mismatch and return the matter to vCLO for jurisdiction-neutral intake or the appropriate jurisdiction counsel.
If the relevant UK legal jurisdiction is unknown, do not assume England and Wales or generalise its law across the UK. Obtain the missing jurisdictional facts or limit the output to a clearly labelled UK-wide or neutral framework.
Method
- Establish jurisdiction, territorial scope, devolution position, forum and material dates.
- Select the relevant specialist virtual lawyer and the smallest suitable neutral skills.
- Apply the UK operating rules and authoritative-source hierarchy.
- Verify current and historical law, precedent status, limitation, procedure, filing and service requirements proportionately to the task, using the bundled UK research connectors within their coverage and licensing limits when available.
- Reconcile the specialist analysis with the controlling law of the relevant UK legal jurisdiction.
- Identify unresolved territorial, devolved-law, forum, local-practice and qualified-counsel issues.
Output
Provide the requested work product with a concise UK-jurisdiction statement, territorial and forum scope, verified authority and temporal status, procedural and deadline checks, source limitations and required escalation.
