ai-nvr

ai-nvr is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Seeed-Projects/Seeed-Jetson-DevelopTool. It costs 52 tokens per session (1,498 once invoked), scanned B, original, MIT.

A setup procedure for a local AI network video recorder on an NVIDIA Jetson Orin device. It uses NVIDIA software to show an IP camera stream and detect pedestrians in the video.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to deploy pedestrian detection beside an original camera feed on a Jetson Orin with JetPack 6.0 and an IP camera.
Why use it?
It provides a defined path for checking the hardware, installing the required services, and configuring video input and storage.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00052 $0.01498
Opus 5 $0.00026 $0.00749
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00300
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00150

Security

Grade B, and why

ai-nvr scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Asks for rootmediumPrivilege escalation

A mod that escalates privileges can change anything on the machine, not only the project.

AI NVR with Jetson Orin

Deploys a local AI NVR using NVIDIA VST and Jetson Platform Services. DeepStream performs pedestrian detection; results display alongside the original video stream on the VST video wall.

Hardware: Jetson Orin device (e.g. reServer Industrial J4012), IP camera, network Software: JetPack 6.0 (L4T r36.3)

Execution model

Run one phase at a time. After each phase:

  • If output contains [STOP] → stop immediately, consult the failure decision tree
  • If output ends with [OK] → tell the user "Phase N complete" and proceed

Phase 1 — prerequisites check (~30 s)

Confirm JetPack 6.0:

cat /etc/nv_tegra_release
# Expected: R36 (release), REVISION: 3.0

Confirm IP camera is reachable:

ping -c 2 <CAMERA_IP>

[OK] when JetPack 6.0 confirmed and camera responds. [STOP] if JetPack version is wrong or camera unreachable.

Phase 2 — install Jetson Platform Services (~2 min)

sudo apt update
sudo apt install -y nvidia-jetson-services

Verify services are available:

ls /opt/nvidia/jetson/services/

Expected: directories including ingress/, vst/, etc. [OK]

Phase 3 — configure ingress & storage (~1 min)

Create the AI NVR nginx config:

sudo tee /opt/nvidia/jetson/services/ingress/config/ai-nvr-nginx.conf > /dev/null << 'EOF'
location /emdx/ {
    rewrite ^/emdx/?(.*)$ /$1 break;
    proxy_set_header Host $host;
    proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr;
    proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for;
    access_log /var/log/nginx/access.log timed_combined;
    proxy_pass http://emdx_api;
}

location /ws-emdx/ {
    rewrite ^/ws-emdx/?(.*)$ /$1 break;
    proxy_set_header Host $host;
    proxy_pass http://emdx_websocket;
    proxy_http_version 1.1;
    proxy_set_header Upgrade $http_upgrade;
    proxy_set_header Connection "upgrade";
}
EOF

(Optional) Modify VST storage path:

sudo nano /opt/nvidia/jetson/services/vst/config/vst_storage.json
# Change data_path and video_path as needed

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

ai-nvr is a skill published in the GitHub repository Seeed-Projects/Seeed-Jetson-DevelopTool (54 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 52 tokens to every session and 1,498 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it B with 1 finding (asks for root). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
