realtime-subtitle-recorder

realtime-subtitle-recorder is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Seeed-Projects/Seeed-Jetson-DevelopTool. It costs 56 tokens per session (988 once invoked), scanned B, original, MIT.

A guide for creating live subtitles from speech on an NVIDIA Jetson. It uses a USB microphone, NVIDIA Riva speech recognition, and a small web server to show the text.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to connect a reSpeaker or other USB microphone, run Riva speech recognition, and display continuously updated subtitles in a browser or on a monitor.
Why use it?
It keeps meeting transcription on the device, which can help avoid sending microphone audio to an outside service.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00056 $0.00988
Opus 5 $0.00028 $0.00494
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00198
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00099

Measured 4d ago against content hash e3a0b40a54e0, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade B, and why

realtime-subtitle-recorder scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Asks for rootmediumPrivilege escalation

A mod that escalates privileges can change anything on the machine, not only the project.

Real-Time Subtitle Recorder on Jetson

Execution model

Run one phase at a time. After each phase:

  • Relay all command output to the user.
  • If output contains [STOP] → stop immediately, consult the failure decision tree below.
  • If output ends with [OK] → tell the user "Phase N complete" and proceed to the next phase.

Prerequisites

Requirement Minimum
Hardware reComputer (Jetson-based) — e.g., reComputer Industrial J3011
Microphone reSpeaker Mic Array v2.0 or other USB microphone
Riva ASR NVIDIA Riva ASR server installed and running (see Phase 2)
JetPack Compatible with Riva (JP5.x or JP6.x)
Display Monitor or browser access for subtitle output

Phase 1 — Preflight

Verify JetPack, USB microphone, and Docker.

cat /etc/nv_tegra_release
arecord -l
sudo docker ps

Expected: L4T version shown, USB audio device listed, Docker running. [OK] when all pass. [STOP] if no audio device detected.

Phase 2 — Install Riva ASR server

Follow the Riva ASR installation guide to set up the Riva server.

Verify Riva is running:

sudo docker ps | grep riva

Expected: Riva container is listed and running. [OK] when confirmed. [STOP] if Riva is not running — refer to the Riva installation wiki.

Phase 3 — Install Python dependencies

pip3 install flask
python3 -c 'import flask; print(flask.__version__)'

Install Riva client:

git clone --depth=1 --recursive https://github.com/nvidia-riva/python-clients
cd python-clients
sudo pip3 install --upgrade pip setuptools wheel
pip3 install --no-cache-dir --verbose -r requirements.txt
python3 setup.py --verbose bdist_wheel
pip3 install --no-cache-dir --verbose dist/nvidia_riva_client*.whl
python3 -c 'import riva.client; print(riva.client.__version__)'

Install PyAudio:

sudo apt-get install -y --no-install-recommends python3-pyaudio
python3 -c 'import pyaudio; print(pyaudio.__version__)'

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

realtime-subtitle-recorder is a skill published in the GitHub repository Seeed-Projects/Seeed-Jetson-DevelopTool (54 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 56 tokens to every session and 988 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it B with 1 finding (asks for root). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
