jira-tickets

jira-tickets is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from speedscale/speedy-template. It costs 84 tokens per session (814 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A command-line workflow for managing Jira work items. Jira is a system teams use to track tasks, bugs, stories, epics, and sprints.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to view and search SPD tickets, change their status, add comments, and inspect selected fields.
Why use it?
It lets an agent find, update, move, and comment on tickets using repeatable commands with an audit marker for bot comments.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00084 $0.00814
Opus 5 $0.00042 $0.00407
Sonnet 5 $0.00017 $0.00163
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00081

Measured 9d ago against content hash 2fd6b7f9225e, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-09, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

jira-tickets scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Jira Tickets

Customization: Replace SPD with your Jira project prefix throughout this file.

Manage Jira tickets using acli jira. The project prefix is SPD.

Key Commands

View a ticket

acli jira workitem view SPD-1234

Search tickets (JQL)

# By assignee
acli jira workitem search --jql "project = SPD AND assignee = currentUser() AND status != Done" --limit 20

# By status
acli jira workitem search --jql "project = SPD AND status = 'In Progress'" --limit 20

# By text
acli jira workitem search --jql "project = SPD AND text ~ 'search term'" --limit 20

# Custom fields output
acli jira workitem search --jql "project = SPD" --fields "key, summary, status, assignee" --csv

Transition status

acli jira workitem transition --key SPD-1234 --status "In Progress" --yes
acli jira workitem transition --key SPD-1234 --status "Done" --yes

Add a comment

IMPORTANT: All bot comments MUST start with === bot === on its own line. The agent uses your personal credentials, so this prefix distinguishes bot actions from human actions. This is critical for auditability.

acli jira workitem comment create --key SPD-1234 --body "=== bot ===
your actual comment text here"

Edit a ticket

acli jira workitem edit --key SPD-1234 --summary "New title" --yes
acli jira workitem edit --key SPD-1234 --description "New description" --yes
acli jira workitem edit --key SPD-1234 --assignee "[email protected]" --yes
acli jira workitem edit --key SPD-1234 --labels "label1,label2" --yes

Create a ticket

acli jira workitem create # interactive prompt

List comments

acli jira workitem comment list --key SPD-1234

Assign

acli jira workitem assign --key SPD-1234 --assignee "[email protected]"
acli jira workitem assign --key SPD-1234 --assignee "@me"

Conventions

  • "Ticket" means Jira ticket
  • Strings matching SPD-\d+ are ticket keys (change prefix to match your project)
  • Always use --yes flag on transitions and edits to skip confirmation prompts
  • Use --json flag when structured output is needed for further processing
  • ALL comments MUST start with === bot === on its own line — this is a shared-credential safety measure

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
