fluent-sim

fluent-sim is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from svd-ai-lab/sim-cli. It costs 29 tokens per session (1,830 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A workflow for running and reviewing Ansys Fluent, an engineering program that simulates fluid flow and related physical behaviour. It supports live sessions, direct Python scripts, and inspection of saved simulation files and results.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to connect to a running Fluent session, run batch simulations with PyFluent, inspect meshes and case files, or review CSV, image, and PDF results.
Why use it?
It helps choose the smallest suitable way to work instead of opening a live solver for every question. This separates one-off reproducible runs from interactive work and offline result checks.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00029 $0.01830
Opus 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00732
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00366
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00183

Security

Grade A, and why

fluent-sim scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 23 executable files (base/snippets/00_diagnose_zones.py, base/snippets/01_read_case.py, base/snippets/02_mesh_check.py, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

fluent-sim

This skill is the Fluent-specific operating guide. Choose the control path that fits the task, then load only the references needed for that path.

Choose The Control Path

Path Best for Starting point
Live sim session Stateful edits, GUI observation, incremental solver work, remote Windows diagnostics, version probes, and inspecting a running Fluent session `uv run sim connect --solver fluent --mode <solver
Direct PyFluent script Deterministic batch runs, reproducible examples, CI-friendly smoke scripts, and workflows that can own their process lifecycle from ansys.fluent.core import launch_fluent in a normal Python script
File-side artifact review Case/data/mesh inventory, transcript tails, CSV/PNG/PDF outputs, and offline checks that do not need a live solver Use Python file readers, text inspection, and Fluent artifact helpers before opening a session

Use sim when the task needs a persistent runtime or live observation. Use a direct PyFluent script when a one-shot batch program is clearer. Use file-side helpers when the question is about artifacts already on disk.

Live Sim Session

After connecting, inspect:

uv run sim inspect session.versions
uv run sim inspect session.health
uv run sim inspect session.summary

The session.versions payload selects the active overlays. Always read base/, then the active sdk/<active_sdk_layer>/, then the active solver/<active_solver_layer>/ when present. Later layers override earlier files with the same name. Require version_source: active_runtime before applying release-specific guidance; installed-version discovery alone does not prove which Fluent release the session launched or attached to.

Expected SDK layer directories are:

  • sdk/0.38/ for PyFluent 0.38.x
  • sdk/0.37/ for PyFluent 0.37.x

Useful live inspect targets:

  • session.summary
  • session.health
  • session.versions
  • last.result
  • workflow.summary
  • field.catalog / fluent.field.catalog
  • fluent.models.summary
  • fluent.boundaries.summary
  • fluent.case.summary
  • fluent.mesh.summary
  • fluent.files

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

fluent-sim is a skill published in the GitHub repository svd-ai-lab/sim-cli (239 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 29 tokens to every session and 1,830 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-19.
