Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00028 | $0.00783 |
| Opus 5.5 | $0.00011 | $0.00313 |

Grade A, and why
update-dependencies scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 69 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Update dependencies
Use this skill when updating or reviewing dependency versions, lockfiles, base images, or pinned GitHub Actions. Do not use it to add unrelated dependencies; follow the feature-specific skill and repository rules when a feature requires a new package.
Follow the shared skill guidance in .github/skills/shared-guidance.md.
Update order
For Composer dependency updates, update the tool dependencies under tools/
first. Validate and commit those changes separately before updating the main
application dependencies in the root composer.json and composer.lock.
Do not combine tool and application dependency updates in the same commit.
If commit authorization has not been given, ask for it and wait before
committing or starting the main dependency update. If no tool updates are
available, state that and proceed without an empty commit.
Workflow
- Identify the dependency scope and requested update range. Check
composer.jsonandcomposer.lockfor application dependencies,tools/*/composer.jsonand their lockfiles for Composer tools, Dockerfiles and Compose files for image versions, or workflow files for GitHub Actions. Readsymfony.lockwhen Symfony recipes may be affected. If the scope or acceptable version range is unclear, ask before making a broad update. - Check the existing update procedures before changing versions:
- Application Composer dependencies: use
make check-dependencies-patch,make check-dependencies-minor, ormake check-dependencies-latestto inspect available updates. Usemake updateonly for an explicitly requested broad update; for a focused update, run Composer's package-level update command inside the PHP development container. - Composer tool dependencies: inspect the relevant
tools/*/composer.jsonand lockfile, and usemake update-toolsonly when the requested scope includes those tools. - Docker images: follow
doc/DOCKER_MULTI_PLATFORM.md; verify image pins withmake docker-image-verify-pins. - GitHub Actions: follow
doc/ACTIONS_UPDATE.mdand usemake check-action-updatesorbash scripts/check-action-updates.shas appropriate. Keep immutable SHA pins and update their version comments consistently.
- Application Composer dependencies: use
- Review the proposed version changes against the current constraints and
supported PHP/Symfony versions in
composer.json, package compatibility, security advisories, and relevant upstream changelogs. Do not widen constraints, cross a major version, or update unrelated packages unless the request requires it. Keep Symfony packages aligned with the configured Symfony version. - Review generated lockfile and recipe changes. Keep lockfiles in sync with
their manifest, inspect changes to
symfony.lockand recipe-generated configuration, and retain only changes required by the requested updates. Do not hand-edit lockfiles or replace dependency management with manual version pinning. - Run the relevant validation for the changed scope. For Composer changes,
run
make composer-validate,make check-security, andmake run-tests; run the applicable quality checks from.github/copilot-instructions.mdwhen the update could affect application code or build tooling. For Docker and GitHub Actions updates, run their documented pin/update checks and relevant CI checks. Follow the shared guidance for execution environment and report any checks that could not run. - Summarize the dependency scopes and versions changed, notable compatibility or recipe changes, and validation results. Do not commit unless explicitly asked.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

update-dependencies is a skill published in the GitHub repository tarlepp/symfony-flex-backend (288 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 28 tokens to every session and 783 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-18.
