skyrimvr-claude-toolkit: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/xelib/SKILL.md

xelib is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from WingedGuardian/skyrimvr-claude-toolkit. It costs 74 tokens per session (978 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A programming guide for using XEditLib, a library that lets scripts read and work with Bethesda game data. It documents the required text encoding, data types, game mode, registry setting, and return-value handling.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for writing, running, and troubleshooting Node.js scripts that use XEditLib to inspect Skyrim and other supported game data.
Why use it?
XEditLib has interface details that can cause broken calls or misleading results if handled like an ordinary library. The guide records those requirements before a script is written or debugged.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00074 $0.00978
Opus 5.5 $0.00030 $0.00391
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00015 $0.00196
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00098

Security

Grade A, and why

xelib scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 26d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

XEditLib / xelib

XEditLib.dll API (Critical Notes)

The DLL is Delphi-compiled. These quirks caused hours of debugging:

  1. All strings are UCS-2/UTF-16LE (Delphi PWideChar), never UTF-8:

    function wcb(s) { const b = Buffer.alloc((s.length+1)*2,0); b.write(s,0,'ucs2'); return b; }

  2. InitXEdit() and CloseXEdit() are VOID, not bool. Declaring them as bool corrupts the call stack.

  3. WordBool = uint16 (2 bytes), not bool/uint8.

  4. String return pattern: Functions don't return strings directly. They write a length to a PInteger param, then you call GetResultString(buffer, len) to retrieve the actual value:

    function getString(fn) {
        const lenBuf = Buffer.alloc(4, 0);
        fn(lenBuf);
        const len = lenBuf.readInt32LE(0);
        if (len < 1) return '';
        const strBuf = Buffer.alloc(len * 2, 0);
        GetResultString(strBuf, len);
        return strBuf.toString('utf16le', 0, len * 2);
    }

  5. Game mode enum: gmFNV=0, gmFO3=1, gmTES4=2, gmTES5=3, gmSSE=4 (use this for Skyrim VR), gmFO4=5

  6. Registry requirement: XEditLib reads game path from HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Bethesda Softworks\Skyrim Special Edition (the SSE key, not the VR key, because game mode 4 = SSE).

  7. xelib.js wrapper: See xeditlib on GitHub for the full wrapper with all 163 functions.

Load the real active order

  1. xelib — in GM_SSE mode the loader reads the SSE plugins.txt, which may be absent on a VR install → the load fails silently. It may also be present and stale, which is worse: measured on the dev machine (VR-only), the SSE file holds 659 plugins, is 18 days old, and disagrees with the VR file about which plugins are active — a complete, plausible, wrong load order that nothing rejects. loadActive() prefers the VR file, names every rival it ignored, and honours $PLUGINS_TXT. Use tools/xelib/active-plugins.js loadActive() to read and load the real active order explicitly, and always run xelib via a .js file (node script.js), never node -e '...' (inline eval deterministically breaks SetGameMode).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

xelib is a skill published in the GitHub repository WingedGuardian/skyrimvr-claude-toolkit (21 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 74 tokens to every session and 978 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-12.
