outl: Command for Claude Code

.claude/commands/ux-desktop.md

ux-desktop is a command for Claude Code from outlmd/outl. It costs 28 tokens per session (349 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A desktop-app layout test that launches the real application in a container, points at each content row, and checks whether anything moves. It focuses on layout changes caused by hover controls, such as an overlay taking up a new line.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it after changing outline rows, overlays, or desktop styles to check hover behavior in a fixed test workspace.
Why use it?
It catches visual shifts that ordinary logic tests may miss, including rows moving under the pointer or flickering. Failures report the affected row and pixel movement.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00028 $0.00349
Opus 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00140
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00070
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00035

Security

Grade A, and why

ux-desktop scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Run the layout battery:

.claude/skills/run-desktop/battery/run.sh

First run builds the lab image and the Linux binary (a few minutes each, cached in named volumes afterwards). Later runs refresh only the frontend and take seconds.

It boots the real app against a fixed fixture workspace, then points at every content row in turn and measures whether anything moves. A control revealed on hover must not take a line of its own: that shipped once as PropertyEditor's + prop, which pushed every row below the pointer down by 18px and flickered at row boundaries.

Report the verdict as printed. On a failure, name the row and the pixel shift, and look for a hidden -> flex (or any display toggle) on an element that sits in the block's flow. The fix is to anchor it instead — BlockRow is already relative.

What this does not cover. The battery only asks the hover question. Keyboard flows work in the lab and are worth driving by hand — see .claude/skills/run-desktop/SKILL.md — but macOS window behaviour (WKWebView first responder, which decides whether a modal takes the keyboard at all) only reproduces on a real macOS window.

If docker is missing, say so plainly rather than reporting a pass.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

ux-desktop is a command published in the GitHub repository outlmd/outl (222 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 28 tokens to every session and 349 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-26.
