zulipchat-loop

zulipchat-loop is a skill for Claude Code from akougkas/zulipchat-mcp. It costs 20 tokens per session (306 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A skill that keeps a Claude Code session running as a continuous work loop connected to Zulip, a team chat and collaboration service. Each cycle checks for messages, responds to steering, performs one work unit, and stops when the mission or session ends.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for missions that need repeated autonomous work with Zulip updates and owner commands. It requires the session's Zulip identifiers to be available in the environment.
Why use it?
It allows work to continue while remaining controllable through Zulip. It also pauses for owner input when progress is blocked.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00020 $0.00306
Opus 5 $0.00010 $0.00153
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.00061
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00031

Security

Grade A, and why

zulipchat-loop scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Zulip loop

Use this skill when you want the session to behave like a continuous autonomous worker that still remains steerable from Zulip.

Treat $ARGUMENTS as the current mission or loop objective.

Required setup

  1. Read ZULIPCHAT_SESSION_ID, ZULIPCHAT_SESSION_STREAM, and ZULIPCHAT_SESSION_TOPIC from the shell.
  2. If the session is not bound yet, stop and explain the missing hook setup.

Loop contract

Each cycle should do exactly this:

  1. Poll poll_agent_events(session_id=..., limit=20).
  2. Incorporate any owner steering or commands before doing more work.
  3. Decide whether the lifecycle state changed. If it did, emit one lifecycle message.
  4. Do one concrete unit of work toward the mission.
  5. If blocked on owner input, call request_user_input(...) and wait.
  6. Exit the loop when the mission is complete, the owner pauses or cancels the session, or the session binding is closed.

/loop integration

If the current Claude Code build exposes the native /loop command, this skill's instructions are the policy for each loop turn. If /loop is not available, follow the same cycle in the current conversation instead of failing.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

zulipchat-loop is a skill published in the GitHub repository akougkas/zulipchat-mcp (27 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 20 tokens to every session and 306 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
