designer-dynamics

designer-dynamics is a skill for Claude Code from dcc-mcp/dcc-mcp-substance3d-designer. It costs 32 tokens per session (526 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A Substance 3D Designer skill that varies an integer iteration count in a graph and exports one verified texture for each value. It produces a progression of deterministic graph results, not a physics simulation or timed animation.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to choose an iteration count, create a weathering or accumulation progression, or export ordered stages for later look development or shot assembly.
Why use it?
It lets you study how repeated filter passes change a result without treating the count as elapsed time. This avoids using it for rigid-body, cloth, fluid, or other simulations that it cannot perform.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00032 $0.00526
Opus 5.5 $0.00013 $0.00210
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00105
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00053

Security

Grade A, and why

designer-dynamics scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/bake_iteration_passes.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Designer Dynamics

Honest capability boundary

Substance 3D Designer has no dynamics solver. There is no rigid body, cloth, fluid, or granular simulation, and no timestep integration. Nothing here simulates physics.

What Designer provides is a deterministic graph that can be re-evaluated after a typed input changes. Many Designer filters expose an iteration count (erosion, flow, distance, blend passes) that behaves like an accumulation control: raising it deepens the effect. bake_iteration_passes sweeps that integer parameter and exports one header-verified texture per value.

Read the result as a progression of deterministic accumulations, not as a simulated timestep. Pass 8 is not "8 seconds of simulation"; it is the graph evaluated with that node's iteration count set to 8.

When this is the right tool

Use it to choose an iteration count, to build a weathering progression, or to export an ordered set of accumulation stages for a downstream lookdev or shot-assembly step. If you need motion over time rather than accumulation depth, use designer-animation.

Bounded and reversible

  • Values are coerced to int, because iteration counts are integers.
  • Series length is bounded to 64 steps and values to ±1,000,000.
  • The output directory must be fresh, so a stale file can never be reported as a new result.
  • The swept parameter is restored to its original value if any step fails.
  • Every exported file is header-verified against the SDK-reported dimensions.

designer-particles uses the same engine for seed-variation tiles and designer-animation for ordered frames.

Files

What ships with it

2 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

designer-dynamics is a skill published in the GitHub repository dcc-mcp/dcc-mcp-substance3d-designer (3 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 32 tokens to every session and 526 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-20.
