figma-prototyping

figma-prototyping is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from dylantarre/animation-principles. It costs 23 tokens per session (1,028 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide to applying Disney’s 12 animation principles in Figma prototypes using Smart Animate, Figma’s feature for creating transitions between frames.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create animated prototype frames, key states, focus changes, and timed interactions in Figma.
Why use it?
It helps designers test movement and interaction ideas before they are built in code.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00023 $0.01028
Opus 5 $0.00012 $0.00514
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00206
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00103

Security

Grade A, and why

figma-prototyping scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Figma Prototyping Animation Principles

Implement all 12 Disney animation principles using Figma's prototyping and Smart Animate features.

1. Squash and Stretch

  1. Create two frames: normal and squashed states
  2. Scale element: width: 120%, height: 80%
  3. Connect with Smart Animate
  4. Use "Ease In and Out" timing
Frame 1: Circle 100x100
Frame 2: Circle 120x80 (squashed)
Interaction: Smart Animate, 150ms

2. Anticipation

Create 3 frames:

  1. Idle - Starting position
  2. Anticipate - Wind-up (move opposite to action)
  3. Action - Main movement

Connect: Idle → Anticipate (100ms) → Action (After Delay)

3. Staging

Techniques:

  • Use lower opacity on background elements (60-80%)
  • Apply blur effect to non-focus areas
  • Scale up the hero element
  • Use drop shadows for depth hierarchy

4. Straight Ahead / Pose to Pose

Pose to Pose in Figma:

  1. Design key frames as separate screens
  2. Connect with Smart Animate
  3. Figma interpolates between states

Create: Pose A → Pose B → Pose C frames

5. Follow Through and Overlapping Action

  1. Create component variants for each element
  2. Stagger the state changes across frames
  3. Hair/cloth changes 1-2 frames after body
Frame 1: Body at A, Hair at A
Frame 2: Body at B, Hair at A (delayed)
Frame 3: Body at B, Hair at B

6. Slow In and Slow Out

Figma easing options:

  • Ease In - Starts slow, ends fast
  • Ease Out - Starts fast, ends slow
  • Ease In and Out - Slow at both ends (most natural)
  • Custom Bezier - Fine-tune curve

Default recommendation: Ease Out for most UI interactions.

7. Arc

  1. Create multiple frames along arc path
  2. Position element at key points on the curve
  3. Use 3+ frames for smooth arc
  4. Smart Animate interpolates the path

Or use component rotation with transform origin offset.

8. Secondary Action

Layer interactions:

  1. Primary: Button scales on tap
  2. Secondary: Icon rotates, shadow expands
On Click:
  - Button → Scale 1.1, Smart Animate, 150ms
  - Icon → Rotate 15°, Smart Animate, 100ms (starts simultaneously)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

figma-prototyping is a skill published in the GitHub repository dylantarre/animation-principles (81 stars, last pushed 8mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 23 tokens to every session and 1,028 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
