otto-s-irresistible-dance

otto-s-irresistible-dance is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Hmbown/Wizards-of-the-Ghosts. It costs 99 tokens per session (748 once invoked), scanned A, original, CC0-1.0.

An engagement-design guide for making a product or piece of content compelling enough that people want to keep using it. It also considers when engagement can become manipulative or addictive.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to examine virality, repeat-use loops, attention, and ways to make content or products more engaging responsibly.
Why use it?
It helps distinguish useful engagement from dark patterns that pressure people into continuing.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00099 $0.00748
Opus 5 $0.00049 $0.00374
Sonnet 5 $0.00020 $0.00150
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00075

Security

Grade A, and why

otto-s-irresistible-dance scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Otto’s Irresistible Dance

Make something so engaging it becomes impossible to ignore or put down.

What This Skill Does

Otto's Irresistible Dance forces a creature to dance uncontrollably. The real-world version is compulsive engagement: designing something so compelling that people cannot stop interacting with it. This is virality mechanics, "just one more" loops, and the craft of making content or products that command attention beyond what the user intended to give. The ethical tension is inherent — irresistible engagement is a feature when bounded and a dark pattern when not. In this grimoire, Otto’s Irresistible Dance is treated as a metaphorical spell with a prototype delivery profile. Canonical reference input: Otto’s Irresistible Dance (spell).

When To Use

  • You want to understand what makes something genuinely compelling vs. merely addictive.
  • A product or content piece needs to be significantly more engaging but you want to stay on the right side of the engagement/addiction line.

Prerequisites

  • No extra runtime dependencies beyond Hermes Agent and the normal toolset for this session.

Procedure

  1. Restate the target, the success condition, and any no-touch boundaries before taking action.
  2. Identify the target experience and its current engagement level.
  3. Analyze what makes similar experiences irresistibly engaging: novelty, variable reward, social proof, mastery loops.
  4. Design engagement mechanics that increase compulsion within ethical bounds.
  5. Draw the explicit line: where does "irresistible" become "addictive"? Define the off-ramp.
  6. Package the result as the deliverables below, with confidence, assumptions, and unresolved risk called out explicitly.

Deliverables

  • Engagement mechanics designed to increase compulsive interaction.
  • An explicit addiction audit: which mechanics cross the line and where the off-ramp should be.

Pitfalls / Guardrails

  • Call out the glue, permissions, or missing infrastructure before you imply this is fully operational.
  • Irresistible engagement without an off-ramp is an addiction loop. Always design the exit.
  • Refuse to optimize engagement metrics that measure time-spent without corresponding value-delivered.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
