art-direction

art-direction is a skill for Codex from Lrinvl1203/world-class-web-design-os. It costs 39 tokens per session (296 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for giving a website a clear visual point of view through its composition, typography, colors, imagery, spacing, navigation, and motion.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create distinct design routes, define the emotional tone and visual rules, choose a signature idea, and state what the site must avoid feeling like.
Why use it?
It helps a site feel specific and memorable instead of like a generic template or a collection of fashionable effects.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00039 $0.00296
Opus 5 $0.00019 $0.00148
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00059
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00030

Measured 11d ago against content hash cc4962ed4cd2, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-11, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

art-direction scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Art Direction

Core deliverable

Define a coherent design POV that can explain the major visual choices without naming trendy libraries.

When direction is open

Create three structurally different routes. Each route must specify:

  • one-sentence POV;
  • emotional register;
  • composition grammar;
  • typography strategy;
  • color/materiality;
  • imagery strategy;
  • density/rhythm;
  • navigation posture;
  • interaction and motion language;
  • signature visual idea;
  • signature interaction;
  • anti-direction.

Do not submit three palette variants of the same layout.

Visual energy curve

Plan the page as tension and release. Alternate emphasis intentionally: peak → pause → dense evidence → quiet bridge → signature moment → resolution. Avoid a page where every section has equal visual volume.

Signature rule

Choose one memorable idea that could be described 24 hours later. It must be connected to the product/brand, not novelty for novelty's sake.

Anti-direction

Write what the site must not feel like. Examples: “not a generic SaaS dashboard”, “not card-heavy”, “not luxury-through-black-and-gold cliché”. Use this to reject plausible but wrong choices.

Files

What ships with it

1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
