google-ads-weekly

google-ads-weekly is a skill for Claude Code from matteotitta/genesys-skills. It costs 196 tokens per session (1,805 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A weekly review and optimisation workflow for Google Ads search campaigns. It reads account data, suggests ranked changes, applies approved changes, and drafts a client update describing what changed.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to review a live Google Ads search account, improve campaign settings based on available data, and prepare the weekly report.
Why use it?
It reduces the effort of checking search campaigns every week and deciding which improvements should come first. It also keeps proposed account changes subject to operator approval.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00196 $0.01805
Opus 5 $0.00098 $0.00903
Sonnet 5 $0.00039 $0.00361
Haiku 4.5 $0.00020 $0.00180

Security

Grade A, and why

google-ads-weekly scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 136 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Reads a Google Ads search account, proposes a ranked change list, applies what is approved, and drafts the weekly client update. Optimise first, report second: the report describes what changed, not just what happened.

Doctrine inherited

  • google-ads-spend.md gates every write. Preview before mutate, confirm before spend, deletes refused, 200-mutation batch cap, read back after writing. Non-negotiable.
  • pii-redaction.md applies to search-terms data, which is free text people typed into a search box and routinely carries names, employers and phone numbers.
  • output-simplicity.md caps the Slack update. It is a skim artifact for senior readers, so one screen, not a metrics dump.

When to use

Use it for the weekly cycle on a live Google Ads search account where you hold at least read access.

Do not use it for:

  • LinkedIn Ads → /paid-ads-report
  • A one-off, deep, 45-check account audit → /paid-ads-audit
  • Writing or refreshing ad copy → /google-ads-copy
  • Shopping, Performance Max or Demand Gen accounts. The levers here assume search.

Inputs

Input Required Notes
Client slug yes Resolves the workflow binding, e.g. ClientCo
Account data yes Either the google-ads MCP, or a pasted/CSV export. Both are first-class.
Client workflow file recommended {client}/workflows/google-ads-weekly.md carries the account's targets, structural guards and Slack format
Campaign strategy recommended The intended structure, so the cycle can detect drift

The export path is not a fallback. When the API is not live, or access is read-only, or the token is still Test tier, the cycle runs identically off a pasted export and simply skips Phase 3.

Process

Phase 0 — Ground

Read the client workflow file, the paid strategy doc, and goals/ for targets. Establish: the conversion action being optimised for, the monthly budget, the intended campaign structure, and the reporting bar. Never invent a target. If the target is an unfilled placeholder, say so in the output rather than substituting a benchmark.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
