nuke-blinkscript

nuke-blinkscript is a skill for Claude Code from sideshowroberto/vfx-agent-toolkit. It costs 52 tokens per session (6,501 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

Writes GPU-accelerated BlinkScript kernels for Nuke - composition grids, procedural patterns, custom pixel effects. Use when creating a BlinkScript or "blink kernel", or a custom GPU effect the standard Nuke nodes cannot do.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00052 $0.06501
Opus 5.5 $0.00021 $0.02600
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00010 $0.01300
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00650

Security

Grade A, and why

nuke-blinkscript scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

nuke-blinkscript

Version: 1.3.1 Last Updated: 2026-03-26 Dependencies: Nuke 15.0+, BlinkScript node

Overview

BlinkScript is Nuke's GPU-accelerated kernel programming system for creating custom image processing effects. Write C++-like code that runs in parallel on every pixel at real-time speeds (tested at 4K).

Critical Learning: This skill was developed from production-tested composition grids kernel with 7 grid types. All patterns are proven at 4K resolution with GPU acceleration.

When to Use BlinkScript:

  • Custom composition overlays (grids, guides, markers)
  • Procedural patterns and textures
  • GPU-accelerated image processing
  • Effects not available in standard Nuke nodes
  • Performance-critical operations (init() optimization = 1000x+ speedup)

Quick Start

Minimal BlinkScript Kernel

kernel SimpleOverlay : ImageComputationKernel<ePixelWise>
{
  // Input/output images
  Image<eRead, eAccessPoint, eEdgeClamped> src;
  Image<eWrite, eAccessPoint> dst;

  // User parameters
  param:
    float4 lineColor; // CRITICAL: float4 creates color picker!
    float thickness;

    void define() {
      defineParam(lineColor, "Line Colour", float4(1.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f, 1.0f));
      defineParam(thickness, "Thickness", 2.0f);
    }

  // Precomputed values (runs once)
  local:
    int imgWidth;
    int imgHeight;
    float centerX;

    void init() {
      imgWidth = dst.bounds.width();
      imgHeight = dst.bounds.height();
      centerX = imgWidth * 0.5f;  // Division done ONCE
    }

  // Process each pixel (runs millions of times)
  void process(int2 pos) {
    float4 input = src();
    float4 output = input;

    // Check if on vertical center line
    if (fabs((float)pos.x - centerX) < thickness) {
      // Blend line color over input
      float alpha = lineColor.w;
      output.x = input.x * (1.0f - alpha) + lineColor.x * alpha;
      output.y = input.y * (1.0f - alpha) + lineColor.y * alpha;
      output.z = input.z * (1.0f - alpha) + lineColor.z * alpha;
    }

    dst() = output;
  }
};

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

nuke-blinkscript is a skill published in the GitHub repository sideshowroberto/vfx-agent-toolkit (16 stars, last pushed 22d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 52 tokens to every session and 6,501 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-11-02.
