bpx-metadata

bpx-metadata is a skill for Claude Code from wilddogjp/openbpx. It costs 24 tokens per session (465 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A command for reading or changing metadata key-value entries inside Unreal Engine .uasset packages. Metadata is extra descriptive information attached to a package or one of its objects.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to inspect one metadata export, update root metadata, or change metadata associated with a selected imported object.
Why use it?
It avoids editing package metadata manually and reports the exact property path changed. Write operations can be previewed with a dry run and optionally use a backup.

Skill for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: shipped in a Claude Code plugin.

Needs its repository: it reads a path above its own folder, which exists only inside the repository. The line is **PREREQUISITE:** Read [bpx-shared](../bpx-shared/SKILL.md)..

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00024 $0.00465
Opus 5 $0.00012 $0.00233
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00093
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00047

Security

Grade A, and why

bpx-metadata scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

metadata

PREREQUISITE: Read bpx-shared.

Usage

bpx metadata <file.uasset> --export <n>
bpx metadata set-root <file.uasset> --export <n> --key <k> --value <v> [--dry-run] [--backup]
bpx metadata set-object <file.uasset> --export <n> --import <i> --key <k> --value <v> [--dry-run] [--backup]

Behavior

  • Default form reads one metadata export by --export index.
  • set-root: updates root metadata key/value.
  • set-object: updates metadata for one import key/value.
  • Set commands report the resolved property path that was mutated.

[!CAUTION] This command includes write-capable operations. Confirm intent and run --dry-run first.

Command Matrix

Command Use when Notable defaults
metadata Default form reads one metadata export by --export index. Check bpx help for exact required flags.
set-root updates root metadata key/value. Check bpx help for exact required flags.
set-object updates metadata for one import key/value. Check bpx help for exact required flags.

Code-Aligned Caveats

  • There is no metadata read subcommand; read form is bpx metadata <file> --export <n>.
  • Object metadata updates require a valid --import target.

High-Signal Examples

bpx metadata ./Sample.uasset --export 1
bpx metadata set-root ./Sample.uasset --export 1 --key SampleKey --value SampleValue [--dry-run] [--backup]
bpx metadata set-object ./Sample.uasset --export 1 --import 1 --key SampleKey --value SampleValue [--dry-run] [--backup]
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

bpx-metadata is a skill published in the GitHub repository wilddogjp/openbpx (99 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 24 tokens to every session and 465 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
