skyrimvr-claude-toolkit: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/toolkit-housecarl/SKILL.md

toolkit-housecarl is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from WingedGuardian/skyrimvr-claude-toolkit. It costs 69 tokens per session (711 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for using the House Carl gateway to inspect and edit Skyrim plugin data. Skyrim plugins are files that add or change game records, such as items, characters, and other game data.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for supported Skyrim Special Edition, Anniversary Edition, or VR data-layer work, including record queries, conflict comparisons, configuration inspection, and plugin patches.
Why use it?
It provides a defined way to query records, compare overrides, inspect configuration references, and create patches without changing the user's plugin load order incorrectly.

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one. Also seen: installed under .agents/ (shared by several agents).

This is WingedGuardian/skyrimvr-claude-toolkit's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on skyrimvr-claude-toolkit itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything skyrimvr-claude-toolkit configures →

Needs its repository: it runs a file that does not travel with it, so clone the repository first. The line is python tools/housecarl.py call housecarl_records --arguments-file <request.json>.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00069 $0.00711
Opus 5.5 $0.00028 $0.00284
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00014 $0.00142
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00071

Measured 2d ago against content hash 56a8004e6db6, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

toolkit-housecarl scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

House Carl through the toolkit

Run python tools/housecarl.py doctor first when context is unclear. It names the configured authority, exact source and capabilities. Wrye-managed order comes from its persisted plugins.txt, with the game's implicit-master and master-block rules. Deployment ownership is a separate fact. Never repair or replace the user's order to make the backend agree.

Use the registered housecarl gateway, or the same operation through:

python tools/housecarl.py call housecarl_records --arguments-file <request.json>

Put the tool's arguments, not a JSON-RPC envelope, in the request file. CLI output carries context and result; the latter contains the upstream MCP content. A refusal exits 2. Consult tool schemas before constructing calls. project.form=tree compares overrides; chain is for graph walks.

For a record schema or Papyrus/distributor grammar, locate the installed package from doctor or the gateway configuration at .skyguard/housecarl/config.json: the server's parent directory is beside skills/. Read the relevant upstream SKILL.md and search only the required references. The seven specialist directories are mutagen-reference, papyrus-reference, skypatcher-authoring, spid-authoring, kid-authoring, open-animation-replacer and skse-plugin-authoring. Do not copy those separately licensed corpora into toolkit source or a release.

Use plugin-qualified XXXXXX:Plugin.esp identities. Runtime addresses are unqualified here. Keep the distinction between file state, modeled SkyPatcher effects and observed in-game state. An unresolved reference in a commented example is not an active broken setting. Facegen provenance and native script/DLL pairing are unavailable until their provider/runtime information is qualified.

For authorized ordinary edits, use apply, create, remove, forward, copy or create_plugin. Specify a new patch by default. Existing-plugin in_place names the exact target. The gateway backs up, stages and independently validates edits before publication; upstream acknowledgement does not replace that protection. Do not invoke the raw server to bypass a refusal. Existing-file edits change the active file only, so manager redeployment may replace them. New patches are staged and require manual activation. Never edit activation files on the user's behalf.

Inspect the returned receipt and changed records. Keep its backup permanently. Restore with python tools/housecarl.py restore <transaction-id>; a changed destination refuses rather than overwriting later work. Compaction, merges and other identity-renumbering operations are outside this integration. Existing tools retain compilation, archive writes and NIF authoring.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
