sciatlas-trend-report

sciatlas-trend-report is a skill for Codex from zjunlp/SciAtlas. It costs 71 tokens per session (910 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A research workflow that uses SciAtlas, a paper-search service, to create a timeline of how a research topic or field has developed.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for summarising a field's history, major changes, recent trends, and representative research from a chosen time range.
Why use it?
It guides a newcomer through setup, paper retrieval, reading the resulting files, and turning the evidence into a trend report. It limits the report's evidence to papers found through SciAtlas search.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00071 $0.00910
Opus 5 $0.00036 $0.00455
Sonnet 5 $0.00014 $0.00182
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00091

Security

Grade A, and why

sciatlas-trend-report scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

SciAtlas Trend Report

Use this skill to build a trend report from search-papers evidence only.

Operating Contract

  • Do not call any SciAtlas downstream command. The only SciAtlas retrieval command allowed is search-papers.
  • Own the end-to-end novice flow: install or locate the CLI, guide registration, configure environment variables, run retrieval, inspect artifacts, and write the trend report.
  • Ask the user only for email, verification code, token, or the desired time range if it is essential.
  • Do not ask the user to run shell commands when tool access is available.
  • Do not reveal the full token.

Zero-Start Bootstrap

  1. Check whether the sciatlas executable exists without invoking a SciAtlas command: use Get-Command sciatlas -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue on Windows PowerShell or command -v sciatlas on macOS/Linux. Install if needed with python -m pip install -e ./sciatlas or python -m pip install "git+https://github.com/zjunlp/SciAtlas.git#subdirectory=sciatlas".
  2. If there is no SCIATLAS_API_KEY, guide registration at http://sciatlas.openkg.cn/register, asking for email/code/token only when needed.
  3. Configure:
$env:SCIATLAS_API_BASE_URL = "http://sciatlas.openkg.cn"
$env:SCIATLAS_API_KEY = "<token>"
setx SCIATLAS_API_BASE_URL "http://sciatlas.openkg.cn"
setx SCIATLAS_API_KEY "<token>"
export SCIATLAS_API_BASE_URL="http://sciatlas.openkg.cn"
export SCIATLAS_API_KEY="<token>"
  1. Use search-papers --top-k 1 as the only token smoke test if needed.

Search Plan

Run only search-papers. Use a time range whenever possible:

sciatlas search-papers --retrieval-mode hybrid --query "<topic>" --time-range "<start-end>" --keyword "high:<core topic>" --top-k 12 --top-keywords 0 --max-titles 0 --max-refs 0 --bias-citation high --bias-exploration middle --ranking-profile impact --report-max-items 12

If the user asks for "recent trends", default to the last five complete years unless the current year matters.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
