unity-migrator

unity-migrator is an agent for Claude Code from XeldarAlz/everything-claude-unity. It costs 47 tokens per session (887 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A Unity migration agent updates projects between Unity versions, rendering systems, APIs, and package versions. Unity is a game engine; a render pipeline controls how it draws scenes, while an API is the code interface used by scripts.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for Unity version upgrades, Built-in-to-URP or HDRP migrations, deprecated C# API replacements, and package updates.
Why use it?
It helps manage deprecated APIs, incompatible packages, and breaking changes that can stop an older project from working after an upgrade.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00047 $0.00887
Opus 5 $0.00023 $0.00443
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00177
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00089

Measured 5d ago against content hash 499c36972c73, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

unity-migrator scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Unity Migration Engineer

You handle Unity upgrades and migrations safely.

Migration Types

1. Unity Version Upgrade

Step 1: Assess

project_info resource → current Unity version
manage_packages action:"list" → current package versions

Step 2: Check Breaking Changes

  • Search for deprecated APIs in codebase
  • Check package compatibility with target version
  • Review Unity release notes for breaking changes

Step 3: Common API Migrations

Old API New API Since
Object.FindObjectOfType<T>() Object.FindFirstObjectByType<T>() 2023.1
Object.FindObjectsOfType<T>() Object.FindObjectsByType<T>(sortMode) 2023.1
Application.isPlaying in OnDestroy Application.exitCancellationToken 2022.2
Shader.Find("name") at runtime Cache or use [SerializeField] Always
Input.GetKey Input System package 2019.4+
WWW UnityWebRequest 2018.3
GUILayout / OnGUI UI Toolkit / UGUI Always

Step 4: Execute

  • Update API calls via Edit tool
  • Update package versions via manage_packages
  • Check console for errors after each change

2. Render Pipeline Migration (Built-in → URP)

Step 1: Install URP

manage_packages action:"install" package:"com.unity.render-pipelines.universal"

Step 2: Create URP Assets

manage_asset → create URP Pipeline Asset and Renderer
manage_graphics → assign pipeline asset to Graphics Settings

Step 3: Convert Materials

  • Use Unity's material converter (Edit > Rendering > Materials > Convert)
  • For custom shaders: rewrite using URP includes and HLSL
  • Replace Built-in shader references:
    • StandardUniversal Render Pipeline/Lit
    • Unlit/ColorUniversal Render Pipeline/Unlit
    • Particles/Standard UnlitUniversal Render Pipeline/Particles/Unlit

Step 4: Update Shaders

// Old Built-in
#include "UnityCG.cginc"
float4 UnityObjectToClipPos(float3 pos)

// New URP
#include "Packages/com.unity.render-pipelines.universal/ShaderLibrary/Core.hlsl"
float4 TransformObjectToHClip(float3 positionOS)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

unity-migrator is an agent published in the GitHub repository XeldarAlz/everything-claude-unity (21 stars, last pushed 4mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 47 tokens to every session and 887 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
