wave6-enabled-ref-rw-in-job

wave6-enabled-ref-rw-in-job is a skill for Claude Code from dyCuong03/unity-agent-team. It costs 47 tokens per session (798 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A Unity ECS technique for reading and changing an enableable component's on/off state directly while processing entities in a job or query.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when a job decides whether entities should be active, such as for distance-based visibility, level-of-detail, or range-based behavior.
Why use it?
It applies state changes immediately instead of sending them through a command buffer, which can otherwise defer the change until later.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00047 $0.00798
Opus 5.5 $0.00019 $0.00319
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00009 $0.00160
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00080

Security

Grade A, and why

wave6-enabled-ref-rw-in-job scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

EnabledRefRW in Jobs — Inline Bit Toggle

Intent

Read and write the enabled bit of an IEnableableComponent directly inside IJobEntity.Execute() or SystemAPI.Query foreach using EnabledRefRW, avoiding ECB overhead and one-frame delay.

Use When

  • Enable/disable decision depends on component data computed inside a job (proximity culling, LOD activation, range-based behavior)
  • Bulk enable/disable in one pass without ECB one-frame delay
  • Toggle must happen in same frame without deferred playback cost

Avoid When

  • Enable/disable targets a different entity than the one being iterated — use ECB.SetComponentEnabled
  • Only reading enabled state (not writing) — use EnabledRefRO

Senior Pattern

// Main-thread foreach — toggle ALL entities (enabled AND disabled):
foreach (var (posRO, flagEnabled) in
    SystemAPI.Query<RefRO<LocalTransform>, EnabledRefRW<ActiveBehavior>>()
             .WithOptions(EntityQueryOptions.IgnoreComponentEnabledState))
{
    flagEnabled.ValueRW = math.distancesq(posRO.ValueRO.Position, origin) <= radiusSq;
}

// IJobEntity (parallel) — same IgnoreComponentEnabledState requirement:
[BurstCompile]
[WithOptions(EntityQueryOptions.IgnoreComponentEnabledState)]
public partial struct ToggleInRangeJob : IJobEntity
{
    public float3 Origin;
    public float RadiusSq;

    [BurstCompile]
    public void Execute(in LocalTransform t, EnabledRefRW<ActiveBehavior> enabled)
    {
        enabled.ValueRW = math.distancesq(t.Position, Origin) <= RadiusSq;
    }
}

// Schedule:
state.Dependency = new ToggleInRangeJob
{
    Origin = origin,
    RadiusSq = radius * radius
}.ScheduleParallel(state.Dependency);

Anti-Patterns

  • Using EnabledRefRW without IgnoreComponentEnabledState when intending to process all entities — default query only returns enabled entities; disabled are silently skipped, enabling them is impossible.
  • Writing enabledRef.ValueRW from two parallel workers on the same entity — IJobEntity is safe (each chunk dispatched once); manual parallel splits are not.
  • Using ECB.SetComponentEnabled when EnabledRefRW is available in the same job — ECB adds one-frame delay and playback cost unnecessarily.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

wave6-enabled-ref-rw-in-job is a skill published in the GitHub repository dyCuong03/unity-agent-team (7 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 47 tokens to every session and 798 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-02.
