concept-gather

concept-gather is a skill for Claude Code from GoogilyBoogily/googilyboogily-claude-power-tools. It costs 51 tokens per session (2,020 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guided discovery process for the concept phase of a Game Design Bible, a document that records how a game should work and feel.

In plain words
What is it for?
It gathers answers, reviews project material, performs research, and compiles context for generating the game's concept documents.
Why use it?
It helps clarify the game's fantasy, genre, platform, design priorities, and boundaries before detailed design begins.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00051 $0.02020
Opus 5 $0.00026 $0.01010
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00404
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00202

Measured 9d ago against content hash 4db49cd388f8, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-12, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

concept-gather scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 246 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Concept Phase — Context Gathering

Gather all context needed to write the Concept phase (Phase 0) of a Game Design Bible. This skill runs an interactive Q&A session, dispatches research, and compiles a structured context file that the concept-generate skill consumes.

Input

$ARGUMENTS — a game concept description, and optionally:

  • --scope <indie|aa|aaa> — project scope tier (defaults to indie)
  • --output-dir <path> — where to write outputs (defaults to docs/game-design-bible/)

Parse Arguments

Extract from $ARGUMENTS:

  • Game Concept: All non-flag text describing the game idea
  • Scope: --scope <value> or default to indie
  • Output Dir: --output-dir <path> or default to docs/game-design-bible/

Pre-flight Check

Before starting, check if <output-dir>/INDEX.md already exists using Glob. If it does:

  1. Warn the user: "An existing Game Design Bible was found at <output-dir>/INDEX.md. Running concept-gather will overwrite the Phase 0 context."
  2. Suggest: "If you want to continue an existing bible, use bible-continue instead."
  3. Ask the user to confirm they want to proceed or abort.

If no INDEX.md exists, proceed.

Source Integrity Rules

Every factual claim in the context file must be traceable to research performed in this session.

  1. Cite your work. Reference specific URLs from web research or file paths from code research.
  2. Never reference prior Claude sessions or Claude memory.
  3. Assumptions are labeled, not hidden. Unresearched claims go in Open Questions.

Process

Human-in-the-loop: Never proceed past a decision point without user approval.

Phase 1: Core Fantasy

Ask the user about the Core Fantasy — the emotional experience the player should feel, NOT the mechanics.

Use AskUserQuestion to explore:

  • "What emotion or feeling should define the player's experience?"
  • "When a player finishes a session, what should they feel?"
  • "Is there a real-world or fictional experience this should evoke?"

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

concept-gather is a skill published in the GitHub repository GoogilyBoogily/googilyboogily-claude-power-tools (2 stars, last pushed 4mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 51 tokens to every session and 2,020 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings.
